CortinaDave
Just curious why scrap is so high at the moment? My local yard is running ads on the radio offering £300 minimum for drive-ins. Seems not long ago I binned a sierra and walked away with the princely sum of £10. Double edged sword as it means there's far less rock bottom cheapos on gumtree
mitsisigma01
Twas only last autumn I got £265 collected for a 206 pug
gadgetgricey
Scrap prices are sometimes higher than the prices cars are selling for on ebay at the moment.... Just done a quick search local to me,. Sold for £300, scrap is £462. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-V6-SE-AUTO-3LTR-MECHANICAL-GOOD-SPARES-OR-REPAIR-MOT-FAILURE-/384702417207?hash=item59920d0937%3Ag%3AcWUAAOSwhxJh3F~j&nma=true&si=9YQ18QGjW4EfPwq53Ql5n2RPNLY%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Spiny Norman
Probably same as everything else, post Kung-flu increased demands and lack of supply. I don't know the exact process involved in making metals for building cars but I imagine it starts with digging some large holes in the ground and what happens after that probably takes a while. We get the same at work when people somehow couldn't grasp why we couldn't simply 'get' more wood. Cats and alloys are making big money too, when I scrapped my Mitsi at the start of the year they asked if both were present, and I ended up getting £270 for a small 1100Kg car that was probably 50% rust. UltraWomble
£165 for a water filled (literally, I drove it into a stream) Astra 2 years ago and the bulk of that was the cat I believe.
MrGTI6
A colleague scrapped a Seicento this week for £250. It drove perfectly but failed its MOT on a rusty sub frame and an oil leak. I said I'd have it off him for scrap value but soon changed my mind when I realised how much that was! twosmoke300
Rusty_Rocket
Scrapped our 2004 Mini a couple of weeks back- £279 and they collected it, too.
w00dy
Got £325 collected for the Golf the other week. I'd rather it was worth naff all and there was more interesting sub £1k cars about, but not sure that'll change any time soon.
JMotor
I had my eyes opened after scrapping two cats off two cars I had. I got waaay more than I expected. But everyone seems to be getting good money for their cars than I am. Because my locals here are mean as. Was "only" offered £200 for an 06 Vectra CDTi. So whipped the wheels and flogged the rest to a mate for that. As he fortunately saw a good car in it and is fixing it instead. mk2_craig and AnnoyingPentium
