Great to see everyone there and put faces to names. Some top people, top cars and great vibes.

Magic Honda did 630miles on 4/5ths of a tank. Reckon i could do another 100. Impressive for a 40 litre tank

@alcyonecorporation, I ran out of steam but you're welcome to test drive whenever you want. I'm sure I'll catch you around.

Will defo take you up on this.

I move around between the North West and the East Midlands so I'm sure we'll be able to sort something out (though I don't know where you're based).

Was a great event - if someone could DM me how to get to the bomb area I'd like to go back at some point - it's local to the car, Llanberis is spectacular and I want to take a pic of that old filling station with the Essolube sign.
It was a good run for the Amazon because it lives in Conwy and @Pete-M and I are gradually putting miles back on it after finally tracing the fault that made it stall.
I am shit with heat and people but it was wonderful to see everyone again.

I know a few people wanted to see it out and about a bit more but I really wasn't up for handing the keys over in case something happened - it hasn't done anything since 2013.
I'd have run folk up the road in it but it was NOT LIKING the ambient heat and the stand in Zenith currently fitted needs a rebuild. It makes more torque than the Scandcar Weber 34ICT but it's nowhere near as responsive.
I had fun getting out of the campsite (wheelspin LOL) until @AnthonyG (great to catch up) showed me the greenlane-esque direction to get around the bump.  The Simons back box fell off but @Pete-M got it back on; unlike many car shows, where attendees ripped it to pieces before I've even parked, people seemed to really like it, which I'm grateful for.

Let me know if you need any reference points @juular; I have a few spares kicking around and I'll make a list if anything's of use. My car is a 4D Trigger's Broom at this point but if it helps I'll get it photographed.

I think the Beat was car of the show for me - its the only 'ABC' kei I've not had much experience of.

When I'm more confident it'll run properly, I'll bring it to another event and people can have a go/have a run/do more with it.

I rather got out of taking shots in the intervening years; I brought my D3400 but I decided to stick to my phone. @Jim Bell's Rexton was most fun.

The 205's starter motor doesn't like the heat. I think there's a dead spot on the commutator so when the solenoid engages the ring gear, the motor won't spin because it's on the dead spot. What I've been doing up 'till now is putting it in gear, turning the key and giving it a little push to rotate the motor enough off the dead spot to let it cough. Then I can key off, put it in neutral and start it normally. This time at Gretna it didn't work and needed a full on bump start by messyrs @320touring and @jaypee.

Suggestions have been made by @320touringand @Ghostythat it could just be the usual 205 degraded starter wiring which I am willing to accept but why would a wee shove of the car with the starter engaged allow it to then start as normal? It's due an MoT in a couple of weeks so I'll get the guy who's doing other wee bits of work to have a look at it.

Mind you and others bump-started my 205 at the services after SF 2013?  Anyway, there was a wire from the solenoid +ve that could be used to start it, and the AS bike Citroen ZX estate got one too, but I also found that if the key was jiggled in the barrel when trying to start it, that aloso did the trick.

Names, cars,

I tried to get everyone to say their username but i largely forgot and became confused!

I'm Tim, (Formerly Tim_E here) and had one of the million Volvos, mine was  the dark blue 740 saloon with the hammock and bagpipes. (And two kids)

It was totally awesome to meet you all!

What a fun weekend. It was really nice to meet everyone, although I've forgotten everyone's names already.  We'll just have to do it again I reckon.

Friday

We set off from a drizzly Central Scotland with a small detour planned.

This is the Paul Tavernor gallery in Poynton which Mrs Juular had been wanting to visit for ages.

Those who know her will know why.

pxl_20220715_131032074_copy_540x960.jpg

The detour turned out to be a good thing as we completely missed the grim queue on the M6 at Wigan and sailed uneventfully along the M56 and A55.

As some already commented, the A55 is surprisingly scenic and feels a bit like a stage on Ridge Racer.

Entry to the site was easy to find.

The 240 gained a well deserved rest in SCOTCH CORNER which @davidfowler2000had handily set up.

I must admit I tore into the beer fairly early and don't remember much after the banner went up.

Saturday

Saturdays train trip was exactly the right thing to be doing on a scorchio day with a hangover.

The slate museum, also a great surprise given that it's free entry.

The waterwheel is a sight to behold, plus it was freezing in there which was just what I needed.

The Volvo representation was superb.

I rubbed my thighs to the bone over @alcyonecorporation's Amazon.

Sunday

@Lacquer Peel and myself are similar in the sense that while we enjoy socialising, and while everyone there was absolutely sound, we both get a bit overwhelmed with it all and decided to check out the bomb store in Llanberis.

What a place.

We then headed home in convoy over the twisties via Betws-y-Coed and the A5.

What a beautiful place, we intend to return with the campervan soon and explore it better.

Total journey, 664 miles. The 240 was an absolute trooper and was such a pleasant place to be at all times. I have never had such a relaxing drive up the M6, and yet, it also dealt with the twisty Welsh roads in the most hilarious way. All in it returned just over 35mpg which is rather decent.

Thanks also to whoever was handing out the Saffron Buns, as it made a nice supper when we got home.

pxl_20220718_120732115_copy_960x540.jpg

Cheers all. See you again next time.

What I find interesting is that despite Tebay being an old charter etc. why does no-one stop off for a cheeky Nandos in Gretna?

Christ, that brings back some memories. I seem to remember that Nando had a really dirty mk1 Granada that was always parked outside. I think thats where I used to take the pop bottles to get my refund and spend it in Jardines or at the hut on sweets.

I should have come over even for a couple of hours just to pay someone to regas the focus air con! I'm hoping a can of gas from hlafptds will sort it. A grey car with grey interior isn't pleasant. Hopefully join you all next time.

There's 2 fods coming up, and hopefully it won't be quite as hot in a few weeks

I don't think @Talbot had much gas left, the 2 volvos ate alot

It won't.  Definitely don't use that, as it won't be the right amount needed, and those disposables ALWAYS introduce air into the system, destroying the performance and introducing moisture.

I am actually about halfway through my bottle.   Where are you based again?  Might be able to meet up somewhere...

You can get a recharge at ATS through Groupon for £39 which is cheaper than a DIY bottle from Halfords even with a trade card.
