colino Posted September 27, 2021 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Mitsubishi means three diamonds (actually three water chestnuts but that's marketing/translation for you) I think that logo is just a use of Sigma, the car name, with a nod to the parent brand. One of the things he worked on was Mitsubishi branding/image - they wanted to appear less 'Japanese' which had negative connotations at the time. (Think of equivalent Chinese brand today). He claims that LB was the origin of the Colt name. Sadly his memory is rusty and he's not into cars so I can't get any more detail out of him.
