PaykanHunter
Hello. Long time no post. Can someone please explain why Mitsubishi used this logo on Galant Sigmas? What does this logo mean, where did it come from? Cheers. sdkrc

martc
Could it just be M for Mitsubishi? But a stylised M to make it look a bit like the Greek sigma symbol on it's side. There's a hint of a diamond in there as well. PaykanHunter
colino
Mitsubishi means three diamonds (actually three water chestnuts but that's marketing/translation for you) I think that logo is just a use of Sigma, the car name, with a nod to the parent brand. Three Speed
Makes perfect sense when turning left though mk2_craig, louiepj, PaykanHunter and 1 other 2
mk2_craig
Spotted this in Cyprus while on holiday back in 2010: I hadnt knowingly seen this badge variant before that point.
grogee
My stepdad worked for Leo Burnett in the seventies. One of the things he worked on was Mitsubishi branding/image - they wanted to appear less 'Japanese' which had negative connotations at the time. (Think of equivalent Chinese brand today). He claims that LB was the origin of the Colt name. Sadly his memory is rusty and he's not into cars so I can't get any more detail out of him.
