Budget on parts is trying to be kept as low as possible so ive been ebay part number hunting when quiet at work. 

Hopefully i can keep the parts cost under £120, but 4 tyres and an MOT on top of that is another £170ish.

 with the current high scrap prices added to the very very reasonable transport cost this project doesnt have much room for expenditure as its a very low value car even when sorted. 

The saying "rare but nobody cares" fits very well to this wagon.

The snapped bleed screw was drilled out i was as carefull as i could be but the threads did take a beating my main target was not to drill into the sealing taper at the base so i drilled untill the base of the threads and pushed the tip out via the hole in the piston bore.  

Caliper was cleaned up and put back together. Bleed nipple from the n.s was used and done up tight enough but it doesnt seem to want to seal. Will try a new nipple as a last chance as that was certainly a bit tired looking. If not new caliper time. Booo! 

Discs got cleaned up with the wizzy woo and a DA for now. Carriers cleaned up aswell, just need the n.s to turn up now.

 New discs are only 17 quid a pair delivered but more technical jobs need addressing before then.  Stop / start/ steer and drive is the main goal for now.

Steering then, we have a wee leak.  Up and kicking its shoes off reveals the volume of said leak

Now the undertray was busted at the rear causing it to channel fluid down to one point.  I could see the leak that was at the front near the rad but there was also alot of fluid below the reservior.

Tray off , i cleaned the shit out the the pulley area and topped up the fluid to check for leaks.

It stayed nice and dry but the other leak was dripping away. Without the engine running the flow was a drip every 20 seconds or so.

I place a tub under the leak and a flat clean bit of worktop below the pulley area and left for the night. 

The following eve, the wood was spotless and the tub had a substanial amount inside.

1 simple leak. Woop!

Today saw the Bad bit chopped out with a wee pipe cutter.

Fresh rubber bit shoved on. This is the low pressure side so should be fine. 

Cable tied for now untill proven then ill whip up a small support bracket.

With that done we could aim to get it running for longer.

The V6, when it fired up it sounded like an absolute bag of bollocks.  Like a ford ohv lump was under there! Pulleys noisey, tappets a bit drained out and old oil.

We fired it up today and it hadnt got better, a few cycles got the p.s pump to shut up as the air came out. One tensioner is very dry so my friend popped the side of the bearing and gave it a squirt of oil that shut that up.

The already mentioned lazy tappet clacking away. A smidge of heat build got things a bit better but id heard enough and it had proven the pipe fix had work so we decided to drop the oil and check for any sparkles.

Renault and the bloody square drive sump plug see an old 3/8 extension ground down to suit.

Oil drained. No sparkles but smelt quite a bit of fuel. I assume all the unburnt from missfiring. 

No sparkles thankfully, some clouding from a bit of moisture and it was rather old and thin.

Ptfe on the sump plug threads had turned to a goop hanging down. Cleaned this out.

Filter, VGG approved.

On and fresh mannol 10w40 in (7 litres!)

Fired up and after a bit of running and a few revs everything shut up and sounds much more like it should. 

Its no busso! But still. (Video was later on after it had been running multiple times for a good amount of time)

Yes, 'it's no Busso" was my impression of this PRV effort when I had it...

Did I read it right (some years back I think) that the Cat is not* a legal requirement on this model?  How does that stand at the MoT ramp with a straight-though adaption.  Thought not, but still...

Sterling effort so far, happy to put some subs towards the Nipple Therapy Kit, if only for giggles at the title.  For the 'Save The Saf' campaign

The CAT is an absolute monster of a thing. Which is a concern to me as i could see it going walkies,

Could take it off for now (after MOT pass) and put a cheap aftermarket/universal one on it? Pre-2001 cars don't have to be Type Approved iirc.

My £28 NOS (basically destined for skip/no cars left on road) SuziQ cat went "virtually NIL" emissions..... However, what it's like next test 🤔
