cobblers
yes, for once I'm really pleased with what I'm paying for! He charges twice what my other guy did but his work is ten times as good. Carl1981
Mine had to have similar amounts done in the same places, that looked really solid from outside too. it looks like your guy does a better job than my guy though, that’s really neat looking work. Despite looking very good, you can see that mine has been worked on.
cobblers
With the outer sill cut off, you can see the rusty hole on the top left which is all that it originally got booked in for You can also see how fat the top seam is, so Dan decided to cut the lot off up to the full length of the rear sill section we had, There was also a dodgy repair inside above the chassis rail - I had seen this and presumed it was covering up a drilled hole for the block heaters that this had. Nope! Rust! New inner sill in: Rear reinforcement And the internal bit repaired properly: I also got him to sort out the front step - there was just some thin metal here and a few pinholes, but he cut the lot out and used a spare part of the sill section that had a perfect matching ridge on to fill the hole Off to collect it tomorrow. Still shocked that it needed all that work despite looking so solid externally, but very happy with the work Dans done, and for a reasonable price all things considered. Matty
Big question is will you have to sell the t6 to be able to settle the bill?? Joking aside I'd be really interested to know how much this cost. Obviously not if you don't want to disclose, but now that I'm in the realms of this sort of work it'd be interesting to know roughly how much this much work at such a high standard costs. cobblers

He charges £40ph and he's been on it most of the week, just shy of £1200. I sold my caddy last week which has taken the sting out of it, but realistically, that's what you've got to charge for skilled work like this in order to make it viable as a decent living. Ouch, big hit to take, but to be fair he looks to be doing a cracking job on it, £40ph is very reasonable for someone with his apparent talent, should keep it solid for a good number of years so well worth it for a keeper. Back_For_More
When I look at the horror show I sometimes produce myself - and think of paying 40p/h for work like that it does become a no brainer (if I knew of someone that skilled I could trust locally) He's done a great job all round by the looks of it. cobblers
A credit to Dans work, all I needed to do was pump some sikaflex into the seams and give the areas a couple of coats of high build primer, plus the thinnest smear of filler in a couple of places to cover some grinding digs! I've painted it up with some custom mixed aerosols, and it's invisible other than the lack of stone chips, I'm really pleased! With that job done, I stripped the T6 and lined it out inside all nice: It's a lot better for it! Doesn't have the articulation of the t25 though (same spot in the t25 has the rear wheel barely lifted at all) And I fitted the wheel spacers with the correct wheel bolts (the wheels were supplied with r12 bolts not r14 and the seller doesn't understand / won't admit that there is a difference..) garbaldy, LightBulbFun, Tickman and 20 others

Yup, it's the first time in a long time that I've paid someone to work on a vehicle and been satisfied that I couldn't have done it better myself. Edit: and this isn't me bragging I'm an uber skilled master craftsman, it's just that every time I pay for work, someone makes a bollocks of it! mat_the_cat, GrumpiusMaximus, bunglebus and 2 others

cobblers
T6 is awesome, done a lot of lanes. Doesn't have the articulation of the t25 or a diff lock, so I've kept it fairly mild. T25 is getting some bigger tyres on, I reckon. Theyre 235/75/15s which are wider than the ones on there (215/75/15), but they look narrower here: Thankfully when fitted to a (blasted and painted, german mefro) wheel they plump out and seem decent: The front tyre is very close to the rear of the front arch when on slight lock, so I'm going to have to do a bit of trimming. I'll keep the bit I trim off in case I want to put it back on. It's due an MOT in a few days, wish me luck! rainagain, Tickman, Dyslexic Viking and 13 others

cobblers
also, WTAF: This is a picture straight off my phone, unedited, dragged and dropped This strange image in the hole in the wheel of a leaf with some copper coloured wires underneath is something I think I saw on a youtube video weeks ago. cobblers
MOT the other day, and it sailed through with just the yearly "play in rear wheel bearings" advisory that every T25 gets, and this one has had since it was imported. I had to change the track control arm bushes because they had worked their way out to one side: Apparently it's a thing that they do. It took a big lorry type ratchet strap to pull the arm across to get it back in place, not sure it the suspension lift is to blame but I will investigate this weekend. Got all the new, bigger tyres on. I've cut the front arches to make them fit and feel guilty for it, but I did it to exact vw 16" syncro spec and kept the bits I lopped off in case I want to weld em back on. They're about 35mm taller than what was on before but it hasn't really made much difference to how it drives, and they aren't particularly noisy either - they look great too. I've got 4 people lined up to buy the 5 year old old BFGs for the same as these new yokos have cost!
