@Mrs Spart Obviously the reasons behind your recent posts are ultimately fuelled by the very sad news of Spartacus' passing. His posts were always engaging and he clearly was a sterling fella. I particularly loved the story of the rediscovery of your MG after being apart from it for so many years.

I doff my virtual cap to you for gritting your teeth and managing to organise so much at such a challenging time. You, like Giles, really do come across as one of the lovely folks.

It's amazing how your posts have also fuelled a combined effort from a number of forum members to come together to help out.

As mentioned above, whilst it's all very much tinged with sadness, there's also a lot of heart-warming reading stemming from your posts and the resulting events.

I do hope you stick around and keep us posted on how things are, along with any updates on Giles' 5 series and of course your MG.

All the best with everything 🙂.

@wesacosa was on his phone shopping for a train ticket home when we fired it up in the nick of time and it still wouldn't idle😉 I was back in the carb swapping out the idle jet just after the nick of time!! So glad when it hit the road. Fun day🙂

... Of course there would have been a bit less drama and tension if I had lifted all the tools I really needed to do the CV boot😶

Lol seriously it was like watching the Formula One team in the pit stop!

Aye @wesacosawas online shopping for a train ticket home, mumbling, "We're not going to make! We're not going to make it!!!" @Grumblespeedwas chucking the wheel back on as fast as he could... And I was stood watching, "Come on Guys!!! Come on!!!"😰🤣🤣🤣

Well I'm hoping the MG will be up and running eventually... I plan to hopefully take this to some Classic Car Shows maybe even this year and I'll create a board of the story behind it;  paying homage to @spartacusfor the road trip and working on it & also thanking @bub2006& @Mally for bringing it back to life 👍🏽

The BMW 520 I popped into the garage and said "Hello" and the mechanics have said they're awaiting a Specialist Welder to pop in to look at the work on it... 🤞🏽🤞🏽

@spartacus& I had many a road trips collecting various vehicles... Usually when a vehicle or vehicle part was to be collected... I was his Co-Pilot. Always encouraging his hobby and never complaining 👍🏽

So today was great fun. 👍🏽😊👍🏽

Pretty confident a F1 pit crew wouldn't have spent quite so long swearing at one stupid circlip because they forgot to bring the right tool though. Just hope the wheel stayed on! Come on Wes, get it home!

well what can I say, had a great adventure today as hopefully all of the posts have shown.  I will never forget tearing through the streets of chesterfield trying to beat the MOT man closing . I thought I was sleeping in the Panda tonight for a while there! I can truly say I have never had an car collection quite like this one

In addition to the two MOT failes the car was also refusing to run correctly. We coughed spluttered and kangarood all the way to the Mot station and all the way back , despite it starting up ok and running well until we set off

I have to say what an absolute pleasure it was to meet and spend the day with the truly fabulous @Mrs Spart, she was helpful and funny, she picked me up from the station, followed me to the MOT place, took all the pictures and updated the thread and then when chasing up the road trying to get the MoT man to stay open.  We couldn't have done it without you, and I hope you enjoyed the day as much as I did. I am sure Giles would have been proud, and I hope he would have enjoyed the fact his Panda had such a great story for the forum

Also a massive thanks to @Grumblespeed, for giving up his time and driving over an hour with a car full of parts and tools to get the car ready.  It was nick of time stuff as you have read by now, but I would still be there reading the Haynes manual trying to get that CV boot done if not for him. Way above and beyond the call of duty, and I hope one day I can return the favour

The car didn't miss a beat all the way home. Its great, it keeps up with traffic on the motorway and is a hoot to chuck around the corners. A true credit to @spartacus and the only downer on a truly memorable day that I will remember forever was that he wasn't there to share it with us

oh, and I think I may have got flashed by one of those lousy gantry camera on the m25 on the way home too

I forgot the petrol shot, so here is a McDonald's motorway services shot instead

Glad you got back OK.  Been watching the forum thinking "did I tighten those wheel bolts..." You've had a good chance to bond with the car anyway, enjoy yourself.

yeah it looks like you did!! Yeah car is fab. Very different to the Favorit. I thought they would be similar but the Panda is much more fun to drive

  • wesacosa changed the title to Special Collection thread - Pandamonium

somewhat lost in the excitement of the race against time thread today, but I should also mention that @worldofceri had  most generously offered to transport the car to me for free, should we not have managed to get it MOTd or there were any serious problems.  another top Shiter

Bravi a tutti.

Specialmente brava Mrs Spart, spero che questa avventura porterà un sorriso in questi giorni difficili.

Un abbraccio da vicino torino, la casa da fiat .

It is a shame there is no such thing as an italian  autoshite forum, i am sure this story would have made the headlines over here.
