Just setting out for a very special collection thread, as today I become the lucky owner of @spartacus Fiat Panda

Plan is to head up from London to Chesterfield on train with a few basic tools and take it for MOT and keep everything crossed

@Grumblespeed has kindly offered to be on standby in case I need any parts or help.  All being well I will be driving it home later today 🤞🤞

flagging a diesel down, just like Bobby McGee , although to Chesterfield rather than New Orleans

not an Intercity 125 sadly

Interestingly they still leave them running in the station for extended periods, I can see why they would with some old school 70s diesel which probably takes ten minutes to get going but would have thought the modern ones were easier to start

I'm just stopping for a coffee, then one final last shop with the monies raised (photo is 2/3 of the money raised for the 2 wards😁) & off to collect @wesacosa...

Before we do the hospital gifting and photo shoot for the Press 👍🏽 and then collect @spartacusFiat Panda 🥲👍🏽

Mega shop done! 😰

Photo doesn't really do it justice but underneath all this is also a nice Tassimo coffee machine x2 (one for each ward!) Plus a nice coffee filter machine. Plus all the Tassimo pods they'll ever need for it! Tonnes of puzzles books and lip salve (for the patients) plus pens.

Plus...

I had to do it guys... A few classic car retro magazines 😉👍🏽👍🏽

Ritey better pick @wesacosanow 😀

I hope the tester knows he’s a hero for testing 20 minutes past closing time.
Im sure he’ll feel good sleeping tonight knowing that he’s pleased at least dozen specialist car forum patrons.

He does now, filled in their comments box, which reads:

 Dear Temple Normanton Testing Centre,

I had to message and thank you endlessly for allowing a 1988 Fiat Panda be re tested today (just after 5pm).
This Panda was my partners' car who passed away on the 15th May 2021. His final wish was that this car be auctioned off for a good cause.
£750 was raised from this car and the monies spent on Giles' 2 wards that he liked.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.worksopguardian.co.uk/news/people/tributes-to-fit-and-active-father-who-died-after-battle-with-cancer-3258647%3famp

Today those items were gifted to the 2 wards and Wes (the gentleman who won the car) collected the Panda.

Thank you... Thank you so much for staying open & re testing it for us... I know you didn't have to but you did.
It is now... As we speak, being driven down to Southern London!

Thank you again guys. Keep up the good work.

Cristal.

@wesacosa was on his phone shopping for a train ticket home when we fired it up in the nick of time and it still wouldn't idle😉 I was back in the carb swapping out the idle jet just after the nick of time!! So glad when it hit the road. Fun day🙂

You couldn't write this kind of drama, tension and euphoric victory.

... Of course there would have been a bit less drama and tension if I had lifted all the tools I really needed to do the CV boot😶
