Popular Post Mk2 Craig Posted May 25, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted May 25, 2021 Driving home from work last Thursday evening, phone went off. Glanced down at it, "Mk2 Matt" was on the screen....... Swiftly pulled over to read the message. See below..... It was the owner of my old mk2 that I converted to a 20vt back in 2008 and had sold it on (stupidly) in 2010. Spoke to him (and my wife, the boss) the following day and agreed I'd definitely take it! He was fairly flexible about me picking it up, however yesterday was a complete wash out and the type of work I do didn't warrant doing anything other than arranging a last minute trailer hire, fueling up the old discovery and hitting the road from Fife to head to Oxford and collect the old golf! 975 miles later, a severe lack of sleep and its back home. After a bit of digging and looking at the last mot and mileage, it turns out its been off the road for ten years and only done about 3000 miles since its last mot, which I did..... The guy I originally sold it to was going use it as a track car, but he quickly lost interest in it and it turns out he sold it a couple of years later for 400 quid to the guy I bought it back off. It needs some TLC, but I'm glad to have it back and will try and keep up with a bit of a thread on here of the rejuvenation process of getting it back on the road. Matt was a thoroughly decent bloke and seemed genuinely happy that I was taking it back to breath some life into it again! He still has the original folder of receipts that I sold with the car. Don't you know that round here you're supposed to spend a fortune and then sell at a massive loss when your eye is caught by another hopeless case? Pretty much every car I've sold, I've always told the new owner to give me first shout when they're selling it. No-one ever has. dome Posted May 26, 2021 Share Posted May 26, 2021 I can confirm this was one of the fastest cars I've had the pleasure of driving and the OEM look on steelies makes it the perfect thing for baiting much faster cars.
