Oooh very nice! You'll get used to those fucking engine covers when you want to top up the screen wash, bastards!

Is fucking lush though, I'd be very happy in one of those.

How many thousand of pounds will you be spending on it this time then?

Suspension sport mode button as well or is there just the gearbox one?

Has it got the boot button for raise/lower? I think all estates have?

sadly not, just the gearbox and the normal hydractive suspension

probably several tbh

i am very very very happy with it, literally the perfect car for in every single way

sure it has the potential to be an utter liability

but it's french, has fluid suspension and has a silly face so of course i love it

first job was to use the good old glue gun dent puller on the tailgate

surprisngly easy too!

after:

looks tons better!

of course needs a little more tweaking in some areas but very happy with the results

decided to also give the car a good polish, then put tyre shine on the black trims which looks utterly fantastic

i need a facia for the lock and alarm buttons around the stereo as i have put a factory head unit back in

but, surprisingly every single thing works, and works well

151k miles and feels like it's done 50k, drives superb

slight creaking from the rear when it self levels which i believe are the rear arm bearings

also some slight corrosion around the strut tops......what rust converter shall i purchase?

My grandad had one of these, a saloon (hatchback? Liftback?) for quite a few years until he decided to adjust* the bodywork with a concrete bollard.

I remember it being the most ludicrously floaty car I've ever been in. Speed bumps felt like rolling waves. If my memory is correct, the suspension would brzzzzzzz its way up when you open the drivers door?

yep, if it's been sat overnight etc it rises slightly when unlocking

rises again when you get in and shut the door

but oh man is it floaty

they're quite nice actually!

otherwise literally nothing to report, zero issues

literally everything works perfectly

does a damn good job of hiding it's size when you're driving it too, in fact it's really bloody good!!!

Have you went out in the dark and found the “dark mode” button yet? It’s a lovely feature for a long drive at night.

And this is a great resource if you haven’t found it already to see how damned clever your car is http://www.citroenet.org.uk/passenger-cars/psa/c5/c5-index.html

(don’t forget the “Next” button at the bottom of the pages, there is a lot more info on there than there first seems!)

am i the only one who thinks it's an utterly fantastic looking thing?

it's different, but still manual

rare that a VTR has manual heater controls, it's an early VTR spec

My Dad had one of these for a few years, 2.0 manual estate, silver with steelies and wheeltrims.

It was a decent and spacious thing, replaced with an Octavia 4x4 estate which in comparison rode like it had no suspension.

everything else rides like crap in comparison

Have the rear bearings checked out. It's best to do them before it's absolutely necessary, as they can chew up the arm as well where the bearing sit. Could also be the ball end of the rods that connect the rear suspension cylinder to the arm where they fit in to a socket on the arm, which would just need a clean and grease, so that's the first thing to try.

just waiting for the uni money to come in before doing it

some days it doesn't creak at all, others, it creaks a lot

also planing on getting the spheres replaced

Hold off on the spheres! I would recommend replacing only after having them pressure tested. Originals last for nearly the life of the car compared to what you may have read about the earlier spheres. My sister’s is very likely on its original set and is 50,000 miles ahead of yours and feels pretty good.

The originals from Citroen are multi membrane fantastic things and I think if you buy anything else off the shelf they will not be as good (maybe patented to Citroen but I could be wrong)... then you will be changing them every 5 years once you are on the shit ones!  The price of Genuine Citroen is huge in comparison to the aftermarket ones so don’t ditch the originals unless you really need to.

Yes, I'm just about to start scrapping my old facelift C5 that I sold back in 2017. I bought it back for €100 to get the engine out of it. But the original spheres are still fine at 223000 miles.

interesting info on the spheres......

suspension feels absolutely fine, lovely and smooth etc so i may just get them pressure tested

i also noticed the front struts look damp above the wheel, now this is my first hydro car so is this normal?

LDS level is fine

I would ignore damp for now unless there is anything wrong. The outer working portion of the rams (fescalised portion!) will have  a bit of oil as when it is inside the strut it is wet, when it comes out it gets wiped.

I presume you know to check the level on low as per the handbook? Overfilling in normal gets messy?

Oh, and Dark mode is one of the buttons that looks like it should reset the odometer near the speedometer but actually switches in to dark mode  try it at night with the lights on. I do t use it much but on a long later night cruise it’s great

Would it happen to be an estate in that sort of light metallic blue? I need a tailgate if possible?
