I will be driving up in convoy with a mate who is borrowing his mum's very tidy L-reg Corsa B for the occasion.  If the weather's anything like today it should be a good test of the Škoda's cooling system...

Maybe rendezvous in Downham Market or somewhere around there for breakfast on the way? Arbuckles?

I've a feeling the 306 will just be waved into a regular car parking area anyway, thus kind of defeating the object...

Also: please attend.

A lovely green 306 will definitely be in the CHOD parking where it belongs.  In 2019 we found anything early-mid 90s was getting into the chodpark quite easily.  Just not @purplebargeken's rover - much to his eternal chagrin.

If I do come, it'll likely be in the Escort as 1) It's taxed and 2) On the basis that every single buyer* has been a twat, I might as well keep on enjoying it.

Does anyone know what the "special pass" entails which you apparently get this week if you applied for Concours display but the car wasn't chosen? Isn't that more or less the same to the ticket you'd get on the website anyway (which I still have)? If they are seperate I might still have one available.

Given the way the numbers are currently looking (even before the changes happening today have had a chance to foul things up even more) it's very unlikely I'll be feeling that it's safe to attend.

I've been keeping an eye on things and the picture really, really, really isn't good.  Which is immensely disappointing.

I'm also far from comfortable mingling, but it's an outdoor event and there's no obligation to touch anyone. I wouldn't want to be at an NEC show just now, but outdoor ones are ok I reckon. The Retro Rides Weekender allowed plenty of personal space. I'm sure this'll be the same.

I have a chodpark ticket for this, but now unlikely to attend as I cant face a 7 hour round trip in blistering heat with a clutch playing silly buggers.

If anyone wants to take that spot, you're welcome to it.

I've not yet managed to wangle a ticket from someone who has one who isn't going yet, so if you're dead-set on not going, I'd definitely have it.

Alternatively, if you want to get up to Horsham (drive, train, whatever), and I can get a ticket from someone else, you're welcome to a lift up with me.  Aircon works in the Merc.

Re: Convoys.

I'll be at the Premier Inn Grantham along with, afaik, @dollywobbler and @Fumbler.

Messyrs @320touringand @jaypee are also doing the international journey but are staying in Notts because cheaper and visiting friends and will be at Grantham on Saturday morning for an convoy. The show opens at 1000 so I'm thinking leaving P.I. Grantham about 0930 - 0945ish?

Sounds like An Plan. I'm still all set and raring to go.

Hey Man

Sorry I haven't replied yet.  You can likely have one of mine, just waiting on whether my neighbour got himself booked in or not.

It's impossible to change the car detail (reg plate) on the website, so you'll just have to go with the wrong one.  This has never been a problem in the past, but I'm just hoping they don't crack down this year under the Covid Smokescreen of "YOU COULD HAVE PRINTED THAT FIVE TIMES RAAAA"

Absolutely appreciate that some people won't feel comfortable coming.  Some people will never feel comfortable going to anything ever again; my sister is having to have some pretty intense therapy to get her to leave the house after 16 months.  I worry I'll never see her again.  Everyone has to do the right thing for them, but that DOES mean not being judgmental about those whose approach is opposite.

That would be very kind, I'll await hearing if it's available or not.  The other one I was trying to snaffle is the one @hairnetwas advertising, along with a hotel room.  Can someone poke him in the ribs please?  I'm assuming it's for the same hotel as a few others have mentioned above.

I think the reg only went on your profile details to register, pretty sure its not on the ticket anywhere

It's definitely on the ticket if you registered to stick a car in the 'show and tell'.

Cropped so we don't have 18 Ford Sierra Bases turn up.

Just texted my mate and he's up for it - what sort of time would you be getting there?

I was going to say 8am, but looks like they don't open until 8.30 and I'm not sure that gives enough time to get up there for 10.

Is there anywhere else along the A47 before we turn off at Thorney and head up the A15?

Yeah, I'm 99.9% certain I won't be taking the P6 up. My ticket doesn't have a reg number on it so I'm sure you'll be fine to get in, although I'm not sure if there's a difference between chod parking and 'normal' parking tickets - or which class your Merc would get into! Either way - you can have it, no skin off my back.

you could take the a17 route - Macdonalds at the Wisbech turning or the Anglia motel

Do I have to print my ticket out, or can I show it on my phone like a millennial?  I don't currently have a functioning printer at home - last time I printed the tickets out at the office, but I'm unlikely to be going in between now and the 31st.

Make like my aunt and email it to your sister 200 miles away, for her to forward it to her husband to print off, and then post it back to her.

I've been feeling a bit that way about it myself but I've reasoned that I can go and look at the other cars when it's not too crowded and retreat to the safety of my car, Gary Numan style, the rest of the time.

Email it to me if you like @wuvvumand I'll do as Ghosty suggested.  Although no aunts involved in this instance.

Argh!  Just realised I may have fucked up.  I only booked one ticket for my mate but he's going with his Mrs - at the time I booked I didn't realise it was one ticket per person rather than one ticket per car as in previous years.

Are there still any spares going?

There is a Macdonalds just past thorney at eye roundabout.   Front there you can hit A15.   Please be warned that if your heading through Bourne to Grimsthorpe cant remember road number but it has been closed for about a week and a half!    I'm taking boy out on driving lesson and will have a look tonight.
