Continuing from my previous post on page 2 of what cars my parents owned between 1980 and 1989. My parents' cars 1990 - 2015.

In 1990 it gets a little complex as they had both the MG Maestro 1600 and a Talbot Horizon 1.3 LS since 1988. The Horizon was part-exed for the next vehicle

1981 Suzuki ST 90 K pick up (Suzuki Carry). Dad's work hack, eventually sold in 1992 or 93 I think when no longer needed. In November 1993 the MG 1600 then traded in for:

1986 Vauxhall Carlton 2.2 CDi auto saloon.

1994 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 hi torq California 5 door. Damaged repaired car with retro fitted power steering

1997 Renault Megane Scenic 1.6e RT

1999 Renault Scenic 1.6 16v Sport

2005 Ford C-Max 1.6 diesel Zetec

My mum sadly passed away in Sept 2015. After the funeral, dad decided to move the Ford on as there was some engine running issue with it that he wasn't happy with. Part exed for:

2009 (?) Peugeot 308 1.4 Verve 5 door.

2007 Mercedes-Benz A150 Avantgarde auto. Dad's last car, he sady passed away last year. I expressed an interest in acquiring it but the car is now with one of my sisters.

Oh yeah - I omitted to mention that when I was born my parents had an orangey red '74 Cortina XL estate with RoStyle wheels! B) (1977-80)

These are my Dad’s cars, a mix of privately bought and company cars. You’ll see a pattern developing.

6 HK.  1957 Vauxhall Victor F series in Horizon Blue. His first car, bought new. Eventually rusted away
No car at all for about 3 months while waiting for…
DEV 111G. 1969 Vauxhall Victor 2000 FD with overdrive in peacock blue
WHK 111L. 1972 Vauxhall VX4/90 FE in a beautiful Ferrari-like red. Stunning looking car.
TVX 339N.  1974 Rover 2200TC in pale yellow / beige. Always felt a step back from the VX. The first of his cars that I drove and felt sophisticated although undergeared
YJN 388S. 1978 Rover 2600 Mk 1 in maroon. Developed scab like rust patches after two years and the paint flattened terribly. Always thought these felt crude to drive although a good cruiser
BAR 814X. 1981 Rover 2600 Mk 2 in pale green metallic. Engine self destructed one day at about 3 years old. The only bad FTP he ever had.
D225 PWC 1986 Rover 825 saloon in metallic grey
1990 Rover 827 fastback in white. Lovely smooth Honda engine
1993 Rover 620 in metallic red
1998 Rover 75 in pale blue

What do you get after Rover went down the pan ?
2007 Jaguar X-Type in silver.  FTP’d last year when the fuel pump failed

Dad and the 2007 car are still going, just.

After that lot I still have a love for pre-2000 Vauxhalls but don't care particularly for Rovers.

My dad had...

1981 X plate Talbot Alpine in metallic brown and rust.

1983 A Escort 1.3

1985 B plate Sierra Emax

1991 Astra 1.4 L

1992 Astra 1.4 L

1995 Mondeo 1.8 GLX with full RS colour coding and spoiler. - I think this was his best, it all went to shit after this...

2001 Megane 1.4 Expression

2004 Vauxhall Zafira 1.6 - a real low point in my mind.

2007 Vectra 1.9 SRI 150

2010 Insignia - heap of shit, was ready for it’s 3rd gearbox by 100k apparently they don’t like sitting in 6th on the motorway which makes it fucking useless.

2015 Insignia - still got this one but he’s thinking of chopping it in for another one, I think he’s beyond help.

Previous to all this he’d had various Escorts, Fiestas and a Mk2 Cortina Lotus.

my mother always did most of the driving cos dad was away, and we didnt really buy many cars- kept them for a while instead

g reg? Ford Orion, me dad crashed that on the autobahn when i was less than a year old on my first trip to germany (around 2000)

V87DJH Skoda Octavia estate- fantastic car, many happy memories including my dad getting it to 120 on the autobahn. sold in 2010 and didnt last much longer, had aorund 120k miles on it I think

LJ58SDY- current family wagon, Mondeo Estate, around 120k on the clock I think and still going strong

mum also bought a mini  ??55CTF in 2019 after she broke her leg as she needed an auto to drive- still have that one as well
