Actually elaborate reasons why a lower price should be accepted are a good one. The only one I’ve had on gumtree is the commonly deployed distance card-

Im coming from X so will you acccept Y

Im sure there are much more short story worthy corkers out there

When i was selling my Discovery, i had hundreds of these.

the best one was a bloke in Glasgow offering me £100 because 'that's it's worth mate thats what they sell for and by time i've paid for fuel to collect and get home i'd be as well buying one local, it'd be cheaper for me m8'.

I really should have just responded with a simple 'Well fuck off and buy one locally then'.

People these days like to make their problem yours. That’s to say if they live in Dundee and you live in Portsmouth it’s your problem for living so far away so you really owe them a bucket of fucking cash. Same for the old vulnerability card, the amount of penniless, poor, amputee, divorced, decorated ex military personnel that I’ve had giving me a pitch first about why they’ve only got £50 to spend.

People flat out refuse to get the concept of an asking price.

The price stated is what the seller wishes to receive in their pocket. It's not the maximum of what the seller believes a buyer should spend including any associated expenses.

Imagine rocking up at a £500 car, no offers, and handing the seller £348 and telling him that's actually  £500 but the rest spent Money to get there, money to get back...oh and the 2 quid was for a ginster pasty i had on the way.... £500 as advertised M8.

The twat then went on to send me the full list of advisories on my own car as if I didn’t know, should of suggested if he wants something to love he could always buy one of these ...D4857A46-5AFB-4E90-910D-18B5FA176385.thumb.jpeg.273cbab9152059a3ef933e51cca0ddb0.jpeg

I often wonder what these people expect on a £600 car. Hopefully they just get royally fucked up the arse meddling about with minor problems at the garage.

By sounds of it retirement hasn’t been kind to Ian if he’s dithering over a few hundred quid. 🤣

I have learned from this thread 2 valuable replies:

Advertised for say £500 -

"£400"

"Is that all you've got?"

"Yh m8"

"That's unfortunate"

I also had a think and forearmed myself for further combat:

"Thats all its worth m8"

"I'm sorry you feel that way"

Here we have the curse of Mike Brewer.

Fucker thinks he can do an Edd China on it, get it for pennies, throw a bit of Auto Glym on it, sell it for £999.
