Rode a standard cooking one, my brother worked at a bike shop that sold them. Lovely soft power delivery, great handling, so much nicer to ride than the VX800 Suzuki that supplied Sachs the engine. 7 hours ago, inconsistant said: 924 World Champion edition, commonly referred to as the 'Martini' is a pretty much standard car with a paint job and unique interior, and is very desirable and sought after. This was available in 1977 when the 924 launched in the UK, I think they made 100. Yamaha produced an XS1100 Martini bike. Not sure how many they made, but few left now. 3 hours ago, NorfolkNWeigh said: Don’t forget the one above the Holland and Holland, the Linley. Only 10 made and an extra £35k over the H&H. Maybe Viscount Linley handmade the wood trim, he was a furniture maker, after all. I seem to remember that the Linley cost £120,000 brand new. I have been in one, and all I could see different was the very intricately inlaid wood on the rear picnic tables and door cappings. Maybe it had more, but it didnt hold much appeal for me. Lovely looking car and felt so much better than a Ford of that era. I still occasionally see them appear for sale, but they're ultra rare now. Only produced in 85 and 86 iirc. Unique trim, graphics and SR steels as standard. They were all silver too. Found a bit more on them from a thread I started on the blue years ago: Commanders ran from 1985-86Only 1600cc available3600 hatches and 2400 saloons madeOnly in silverBlack painted SR type wheels. And a Commander from Brassed Off in 1996. Bear in mind the car would only have been just over 10 years old at the time. Just an Orion but with a posh interior. I always really wanted one of these for some reason. I think they're a bit more desirable but I don't think anyone will pay 20 grand for one I actually owned a Chasseur for a couple of days about 25 years ago, it even still had the fitted luggage. I swapped it for a W116 Merc 350SE with a banger racer, sorry. The 1600E was trimmed at Tickford in Newport Pagnel , I had 1.6i Ghia Orion company car when they came out and was very envious, although the wheels look a bit shit now. Cavcraft
The rumour with those Cavalier Commanders were that they had all lain in a damp field somewhere (possibly Wales, can't remember though) before eventually being sold. They rusted like there was no tomorrow and suffered comedic electrical problems, a good one was a very, very rare thing. The Calibres were magic, extremely rare now and also (sadly) suffered rot problems underneath the skirts. Well, mine did anyway! 500 made, only 17 on an 'F' reg, iirc. We had a few through the auctions, seem to recall they (and one or two other 'limited edition' Escorts had that horrible spine on the right hand side of the driver's seat. The cloth wore through in about 2 minutes flat and left the metal bar exposed, plus they were really uncomfortable at the best of times. The Ghia ones of the same vintage were a much nicer place to be inside. Those late Escort Mexico’s were pathetic, think they were a 1.6, same for a lot of the Mk6 Escorts, all show and no go. The ones that stick in my mind for Escorts were the Bonus 1.0, Eclipse, Tennis Cabrio, Cosmopolitan, Finesse, Flight. Don't know if they counted as a special edition but the Orion 1600E was a nice motor, used to work with a bloke who had one, they had the RS multi spoke alloys and full leather trim by Tickford. At the time like a lot of these things they weren’t worth any more than a 1.6 Ghia Injection but I’d imagine now one would be worth a few quid. goosey
I remember around 2001 me and a mate visiting the Rover dealer in Halesowen which is now an Aldi, at the time the salesmen were doing the hard sell on the Rover 25 “Olympic” special edition which was a basic 25 but had side stripes and decals with Olympic script mud flaps Emergency light bulb kit Special wheel trims the salesmen were really pushing the emergency light bulb kit telling potential punters you shouldn’t leave home in your car without one! my mate went to Wollaston Vauxhall- now an Lidl and put a deposit on a 1.0 4 speed Corsa instead Cavcraft

There has to be a version of it out there somewhere; if I can ever find it I’ll let you know I’m aware of goodwood sports cars. They get some lovely cars in - top money, but probably worth every penny. North Yorkshire MX5s is closer to me, and not long before Christmas they had an S-Spec and V-Spec in, both in black and both as near as you’d get to perfect these days. The timing wasn’t quite right and I couldn’t justify it, which I’ve no doubt I’ll be kicking myself for. Daviemck2006
My Dad bought an Astra mk1 celebrity brand new in 1984. It was a 1.3L with two tone black and silver body with red coach lines and a sunroof. Perhaps a radio/cassette over the L model too. I reckon my rover fenlander is a dealer limited edition to shift cars that weren't selling. I would say it's a standard 218D with a coachline, a fenlander sticker and an aftermarket sunroof. I also had a peugeot 806 aquamarine. It was a basic 806 1.9td, painted a really bright metallic blue with a few aquamarine stickers a sunroof and denim upholstery. sierraman
I think if there’s anything to learnt from this is that a special edition really isn’t special at all. It’s the base spec with a few stickers on and some shit accessories that really didn’t warrant another £500 on the list price. All the usual suspects like a Britax sunroof or some bumpers ‘colour coded’ at the garage over the top of the usual grey textured jobs.
Stroller133
I like the 1979 Mini 1100 Special. The only non Clubman Mini to have a factory 1098cc engine. It came with alloy wheels and a 1275GT instrument pack and a central console. Metallic paint with a vinyl roof. I nearly bought one unseen about 8 years ago, but chickened out. Saw it later that year in Newquay on the Riviera Mini Run and instantly regretted not buying it. Rusty_Rocket and MorrisItalSLX

Skut
My Y10 Fila is a good example of how cynical special editions can be. Cheapo white paint and black plastic interior, red cloth and a few stripes and stickers. In a way I'd rather have a stock Y10 as the stock item would have a nicer alcantara interior. But use a sports brand to justify the white paint and the nastier interior to offset the cost of whatever extras were thrown at it. uk_senator, Bitzer, timolloyd and 1 other
