The amount of illegal e-bikes on the road at the moment!
We went across to Bathgate, one on the A71 at the Lizzie Brice, coming back, one near Deans, no helmet.
In both cases there was a Police vehicle within sight, who did nothing about them.

In the second case the Police car went around the roundabout,

followed me for a bit,
pulled me over and I got "Words of Advice" about the front number plate being faded.
Apparently it couldn't be read by their ANPR.
( I consider that an advantage ).

Asked the copper if they are not permitted to chase the e-bikes,
he replied that if the rider does not have a helmet on Control will not allow any chase in case the offender gets hurt.

So it appears that Police Scotland priorities are revenue raising from Motorists and sod doing anything about the Neds.

Course they aren't just in for the money. If they can't read the plate they could miss out on more money is the worry.

Unbuckle your seatbelt and claim the same.

The Megane feels and sounds like it's shat a front spring or top mount.

I park it for a couple of weeks due to being pissed off with it, drive it a few miles, and it does this.

It really wants to be scrapped, doesn't it? It's not even worth saving. It's a battered, miserable plasticy base model and it just seems to have been acting like a fucking ingrate for the past few months.

Just had email from eBay seller saying 'Your package is now with Evri' despite the listing stating Royal Mail, which was the only reason I bought the thing from them.
Let's see if/when it gets here...

The message of doom. I had it from Evri on an AbeBooks order about three weeks ago. Nothing happened, then on looking at the tracking it had got to Heathrow, and been returned to sender for some unspecified reason. I got on to the sender and got a refund, then a week later got another email from Evri telling me they were sending the parcel, followed by nothing. I looked again at the parcel and it had been returned again from Heathrow.

How Evri continue existing is beyond me.

Grump about the weather, but not the one you probably think.
Last week or two it's been beautiful blue skies & sunshine with temperatures in the high 20s and a nice wee breeze and everyone's been moaning about the heat.
Today we've reverted to the usual west of Scotland perma-drizzle with cloud so low I can't see the hills 3 miles away, 90% humidity, zero wind and  it's still 18-20C. Horrid airless sweaty oppression, can we either have summer or winter back please, I don't much care which.

FFS. New car getting delivered at 6am tomorrow morning 😴😴

Car delivered. It absolutely reeks of tobacco smoke, so a stiff email been sent to our fleet manager. It's meant to be company policy not to smoke in them. Let's see what happens.

I bet they won't accept that defence.

AFAIK it's the law that you can't smoke anywhere on company premises and that includes company vehicles.  I see so few people smoking these days it's very noticeable when you come into contact with someone and they reek of fags.

No. It's a car that's been returned to head office. I assume from a colleague who's left.

Maybe an Ozone generator worth a try?

Maybe, but I certainly won't be paying for it.

Maybe sacked for smoking in a work place.

I had that last month with a pair of calipers. Took two weeks.
I made the mistake of raising a 'it's not here' issue through eBay after about a week - seller just replied with 'tracking number is attached' and eBay said "get back to us if it's not delivered within four weeks" - I should have disputed it right from the start as not coming via RM48 that I had paid £3 extra for - that may have gone better.

First negative feedback that I have left in about ten years.

Two weeks ago I had to visit our dentist.... Super Sensitive upper molar (crowned) on anything HOT 👹. He optioned #1 Root canal or #2 Pulled.

I opted pull, but the infection negated the numb jab and it WAS A.A.AGONY 🫤

5 days antibiotics & rebooked for today 🫪

Totally, TOTALLY.. painless >> didn't know it had popped out 🙂

Was moan...now Joy [minus 2 x £27 visits NHS ]

You did well. Tooth out is a Level 2 NHS cost, £76.60, though they would have deducted the first £27.40 from this. Happened to me this year, my last two teeth which at one time I was quite attached to seemed to want to escape. Dentist pumped anaesthetic into my gums but it still hurt like fuck. He then pumped it down into the sockets, which was even worse HLF, and trying to pull one was agony. Ended up having it done under sedation, I never felt a thing.

That’s how it’s turned up. Turns out putting it in an oversize box with a bit of scrunched up newspaper and loose packing around it doesn’t protect glass very well, who’d have thought?

Fuck’s SAKE

Give the local  Evri guy (a new one) his due, it arrived today.
I discovered a good way of negating their fuckery and am getting the next package delivered to the local Post Office,  an option eBay usually allows. It means a detour on my way to work to pick it up but since the PO staff scan it in the courier has to deliver it rather than throwing it on the ground with a quick pic, then back in his 58 plate Astra to appear back on eBay next week...

Immediate stroke assessment, negative.  Blood work fine, ECG fine, cat scan inconclusive (can't say I'm hugely surprised given the mess left by the stroke a few years ago - fact that he's alive never mind a fairly normally functioning person is near miraculous).  Want him back in for an MRI in the near future, just waiting for an appointment to come through.

We got home about half midnight.  So about nine hours sitting in what I swear are the world's most uncomfortable chairs.

I took to taking a grab bag with us when we were in and out of A&E, sometimes sitting on the bag on the chair helped.

More inadequate packaging funsies here today too:

Very specifically sized basin, special order, £100 for delivery (because Norn Iron).

Absolutely no cushioning inside the box, so it really came as no surprise when the courier rocked up with it making a soft tinkling noise.

Ye gods...

I've just had an Amazon package delivered. Apparently they left it in my safe place, a black bin.

Obviously I don't have a safe place, a black bin or indeed, an Amazon package.

Chat bot taking an eon to send me another is a fucking barrel of slow-motion laughs.

Having said all that, eventually got through to a human who sorted a replacement which will apparently be delivered tomorrow!

We'll see...

Work laptop delivered for someone here recently about as well packed.  Single wall cardboard box about twice the size needed, no padding, the laptop was shaped like a taco.  What of it that wasn't in tiny bits rattling around in the box anyway.

I got a mattress delivered today. Just wrapped in polythene. No packing at all. Somehow it’s undamaged.

The packaging on ceramic bathroom furniture is often virtually non existent. We get a sink, or a WC returned damaged every couple of days.
