vulgalour
Our driveway looks pretty bad now. It was a temporary solution that was supposed to last 6-12 months... three years ago. So now the paving slabs are sinking, cracked, and wonky and since I drive over them almost every day, they're just getting worse. It's the one driveway you can see really clearly when pulling on to the street too, and it's bordering on eyesore now. This also means we get cold-called semi-regularly by driveway replacement companies. Now, I know stereotypes exist for a reason, and I don't wish to jump to conclusions, but why do they always have some degree of Irish accent? What I don't like is how pushy some of them are to get you to agree to pay on the doorstep. Even if I had the £Xgrand quoted lying about the place, there's no way I'm going to agree to works until I've done some research into the company in question and got some prices for getting the work done to make sure you're competitive. The sooner we can afford to get the driveway done properly the better, maybe then they'll leave us alone.

We used to have similar with cavity wall insulation salesmen (for they were always men). If I had a quid for everytime I told them that the entire street had solid walls... richardmorris and barefoot 1
Richard_FM
I was once cold called on the phone by someone trying to sell me a conservatory, even after pointing out I live in a first floor flat owned by a housing association! richardmorris, fairkens, myglaren and 1 other 1

Might have to invest in a sign on the front door that simply says "No thank you" so I can look at it pointedly when we get cold called until they go away. barefoot, chaseracer, myglaren and 1 other 2
RoverFolkUs
Oh bugger. Just been out in the Focus, first proper cold drive out in it for a while, headlights, blowers, both heated screens, radio etc all switched on. And the alternator is whining under load, so is on its way out basically.. Just like this video https://youtube.com/shorts/7pAvOwmcru0?feature=share Oh well, can't really complain. It looks original and it's not wanted for much else recently

Zelandeth
Been back in Milton Keynes for about two hours now after a holiday in the US for two weeks. I am already losing the will to live again and feel like I never left. Few things highlight how unpleasant a place is than not being there for a while. Why people just seem to go so far out their way to be assholes here I just don't understand. AnnoyingPentium and myglaren

hennabm
I had my 4th one and felt shit afterwards for a couple of days. It was the Moderna. Having had Covid in August it wasn’t far off being the same all over again. outlaw118

Pfizer this time, can't find my card for the previous ones, seems that the side effects get worse each time! I didn't feel much effected by the first 2 (my wife reckoned I was acting tired though), the 3rd made me tired for a day or so, not good when assembling a wardrobe! The most recent one just made my arm sore for 2-3 days afterwards. outlaw118

paulplom
Puncture in the pug yesterday morning down the fish quay. Jacked it up but the fucker was welded to the drum. I did loosen the wheel nuts and bounced it up a couple of kerbs but it still wouldn't loosen. I had to drive a mile home to get a mash hammer to it. It's fucked the tyre though. The date of the spare is 2011 which is also the age of the car. It didn't look like it's been used though. Two new ones are cheap enough though. I'll clean and copper grease the hubs when I take the wheels to get the tyres swapped.
paulplom
Oh and I stood back on the wheeltrim smashing it. I have three spares in the lockup that my mate the previous owner gave me. It was cheaper to buy four as a set rather than an individual. It has a headlight bulb out too. I changed it last year and it's a bastard.

It was the spigot that was holding the ones on that I've had a problem with. paulplom
Aye, that's where it was caught. I've got one of those wire brush things for my drill. I'll whip that around when I take the wheels off. Tickman

They do get a bit stuck , normally a good kicking gets them off , as u say , clean and grease up the hub spigot . How did it handle with a flat on the back ? Just wondering in case mine has a rear tyre go ..as I am may have to trash a tyre to get to a safe place .
