The best option is to get a cheap SIM and pop it in an old phone, then switch the bugger off when you want piece.  I had one motherfucker text me at midnight asking about a car to which I replied that I was in bed and asleep, I'll look in the morning, then the same cunt texts at half 6 to ask the same fuckwitted question, to which I answer that I'm still in bed, then mouthbreather replies, "fucksake, you like your sleep, don't you?"

FOAD, cunt.

The Rolls Royce silver shadow has a heated rear screen with very fine fillaments the same as the ford front screens and that was in a 1968 car. I don't think they have done heated front screens though

My 69 mk10 jag has a heated rear screen, elements so fine you can't see them, might explain why it doesn't work

While sending money for the AS calendar, I discover Virgin wines have been syphoning £25 a month from my paypal account. Obviously, I hadn't read the small print when buying wine via groupon.

Some bargain that has turned out to be.

Now I'm going to have to either waste £50 on their £10 a bottle wine or fight with them to get my money back.

Scamming bams.

Got the jumbuck back from the garage after having a new clutch fitted, the oil light was on when I got there, he said he had fitted the clutch and put everything back together and noticed the oil light was on. He popped open the bonnet and I noticed he'd given the engine bay a good clean, it was still shiny with soapy slimyness everywhere.

I drove it home, it seemed to idle lower than usual and the central locking stopped working.

I had a look at the oil pressure switch, cleaned the contacts etc but the oil light stayed on.

I left it to dry and when I came back the central locking was working, the oil light had gone out and it seemed to be running better. I'm just annoyed at the extra hassle and worry because the engine bay really didn't need to be cleaned.

I've been wondering why I'm constantly skint.  My man maths tells me that I should have money in the bank every month, but it never works out that way.  So I sat down this evening with my bank statements and a calculator, and it turns out that my fixed outgoings (including all bills except electric, but excluding food and pez) are only £210 a month less than my basic salary.  That would be where the problem is then.  I'm doing overtime at the minute so got a bit extra coming in, but that can't be relied on long term.

There are two main reasons why my outgoings are higher than I thought: my monthly credit card payments are through the roof at the moment (I had a couple of unexpected expenses last year which I had to put on the card), and I've got far too many cars taxed and on the road.  This paying tax by monthly direct debit thing sounded a great idea, but when you've got six lots going out each month (mostly on large-engined cars), it quickly adds up.

The obvious solution is to get rid of some cars - that would reduce my tax outgoings and I could pay off a chunk of the credit card with the proceeds.  Unfortunately it's the worst time of year to be selling cars at the moment (I've not had a sniff on either the S40 or the Golf, although admittedly neither is a prime example of its type), and an even worse time to be selling bikes - especially when the road outside my house has been a sheet of ice all day - so I'm going to have to play at being skint for a couple more months.  Either that or get a better paid job - but that probably ain't going to happen whilst I live in Norfolk...

I always switch my phone onto silent when I'm asleep.  Does that make me odd?  :?

Like Ian, I turn mine OFF.

Tayne has more wise advice. Think I tried every credit card going as I swapped balances around back when I had cards and decided I didn't want them anymore. That's a crap sentence grammatically but I don't care. It's late.

I pulled the SIM out of my mobile as per advice given on this forum, it's the best thing I ever did!  Wish I'd done it years ago.

My grump presently is wanting to ask some really specific advice on buying and selling cars in the local area but not knowing who to ask, or how to ask, and be given a straight answer that'll help the business rather than a load of bullshit that'll kill it.  I can rely on my business 'gut instinct', I've had success with that in the past, but it's not my money I'll be gambling with so it's important I get it very right.

Snap.

Going to be a culture shock indeed, trading Advocaat for water and "Carry On" films for sales order acknowledgments.

Stay strong folks.
