The grumpy thread

That kind of thing with some dog walkers does my nut. I was walking the dog round the park near my work the other day, keeping an eye on the dog whilst on the phone to my mrs and so not paying complete attention to my own footsteps when I trod in a massive pile of dog eggs. Someone had let their dog shit on the centre of the fucking path and then hadn't bothered to pick it up. I won't even believe that they were caught without a poo bag, as the park is lined with trees where this path is, and there's an abundance of sticks that could have been used to flick the logs into the undergrowth if you were caught out. I know it's not everyone, but it gives us all a bad reputation which is bollocks.

Imo it's definitely inconsiderate to walk your dog over sports pitches. I think there's just a lot of people who do not think about how their actions impact others sadly, you see it in almost every aspect of life.

Took my eldest to college today. Saw two cars fall victim to the heat. A lot of poorly maintained cars will give up today.

I went out at lunchtime and there was a 2CV stopped on the roundabout outside the office with its bonnet up.  Assume fuel vaporisation or similar as it's unlikely to have boiled up its radiator or blown its head gasket.  He got it going again anyway.

@jamescarruthers The 3m stuff sounds like the Everbond contact adhesive I used which is rubber based and supposed to bond to rubber and fabric.  It did bond, but not very well and as soon as any tension was put on the panel it just peeled off.  Disappointing stuff really.

@Three Speed my seat base is made different, if it were like the traction's seat base I could definitely use your method.  On mine, there's hooks that go into a rod that runs down the outer edge on the diaphragm on two sides.  The hooks then push into holes in the frame.  You can't run anything front-to-back without slicing holes in the seat cover, which I obviously don't want to do, because of how the seat cover is held to the frame.

In theory, I could replace the whole diaphragm with some webbing that runs side-to-side, I'd just lose the give of the rubber webbing which helps make the seat soft and works as the springs.  Cableties are probably going to just slice through the foam base since there's no real structure in the seat base, the support is entirely dependant on the diaphragm.  I've made mine the same way as the original except that I don't know how BL bonded the rubber webbing and hessian together, that's the bit that's tripping me up.  I suspect they bonded fabric and rubber together in one go when the diaphragms were made.

can you adapt one of the less good maestro seats to work?

Probably swapped an overheated coil.  Fuel vaporisation is still a possibility though, as I discovered on several occasions in France last month...

Bloody sickened, my desk faces out to Newsham Park and it's nice lake, I saw a bit of activity earlier and turns out it was the RSPB trying to rescue a Coot that had a small crossbow bolt through it's neck, Fire Brigade also attended but couldn't catch the little bugger. RSPB are coming back with reinforcements to get it. It seemed active enough so I assume the bolt has missed any vital bits but Jesus wept what cunt would do something like that

An update, the little fucker of a Coot was caught and has been taken to the Vet's , took hours to catch and allegedly it had to be given mouth to beak resus as it had tried to hide underwater for too long, possibly some artistic licence from the park volunteer group but glad it's been helped

I regularly struggle with wanting to save cars and the current one is this.Galleribilde

It does not get better that this is a diesel something I like a lot and that they are almost extinct here. It is also cheap and is 30 years old next year so will be cheap to own. Can we possibly create a support group here? Because I need help.

We have a holiday let which we rent out via Airbnb. Nice cottage, with plenty of space around it for dogs to exercise. Got there for a changeover, to find 4 (very obvious) piles of dog shit they haven't bothered to clean up. Plus the bathroom bin was full of used sanitary towels (no bag), which blew all over the garden while I was taking them to the main bin. Worse still, they've already booked for a repeat week!

Then to compound things, the couple who were arriving later that afternoon sent us a message at 10:30. Bearing in mind we clearly state a 4pm check-in time, the message stated that they were setting off now, and so expected to be there earlier, around 2-3pm. And they'd tested positive for Covid 2 days ago; were there any special precautions we'd like them to take?

Yes, how about staying away!

Walking through the park to my son's to collect my car.

The amount of rubbish and dogshit is appalling.

Worse were these buggers allowing their dogs into a children's playground with 'No Dogs Allowed' signs all the way round.  Woman letting her dog shit there too.

There are acres and acres of fields for the dogs and they let them crap in a playground.

A bit hard to see, they are lurking near the trees at the back.

You don't understand that applies to everyone else.

I regret to inform you this is the support group.

Now, when are you doing a collection thread?

Knew that asking for help not to buy more cars here is like asking a drug dealer how to stop using drugs.

And do not know there are problems as always, the biggest is that it has not been on the road in 4-5 years and that it is 4 hours drive away. And the timing belt makes me not want to drive it home. I also do not have a drivers license to tow a large trailer either and a-frame towing is not legal here which is a shame as  a-framing a Renault 19 home with a Hyundai i10 over Norwegian mountains for 4 hours would be interesting.

Can noisy inconsiderate neighbours just fuck off to the nearest desert island :(

Nobody wants to hear your non stop gangsta music, with TikTok music thrown in, at MAXIMUM volume

I get that it's a reasonable time to enjoy your music, but is there really a need to blast it out?

They're two fucking adults with three children under the age of 5. And they're behaving like feral teenagers. Couple that with the constant shouting and smoking of various substances outside other people's windows it's really beginning to get irritating.

The worst thing about it is that 50% of flats in the building have people who do night shifts, so quietly enjoying your music is not much to ask for. No need to blast it out

Neighbor opposite (not even in the same building) sent me a text asking what all the noise was about! It's that bad

Its really annoyed me as I deliberately didn't put the washing machine on at 11:30pm last night so as not to disturb them, and they've gone and done this without any consideration.

Why do people have to be such cunts?

Another flat has a teenager who blares out music sometimes, whilst annoying, to be fair I can forgive them slightly as that's the teenage way. But we're talking about grown adults here :(

There are reviews of guest for that website. leave them a truthful negative one. Do not the website say anything about Virus protocols theses days? They were full of it earlier. I understand that the website does not like the owner making cancellations. Is that correct?

I hate that website so much I cannot even write it's name.

Their policy is that guests shouldn't travel if testing positive, but nowhere did it state where we stood if we cancelled the booking. Potentially we'd be fined, unable to have anyone else in for those dates, and lose the Superhost status. Phoned them up and was told that they can have a refund if they supply proof of the positive test, which is not what I wanted to hear! I asked if we would be penalised and they said they needed to escalate the query.

6 hours later, and half an hour before they were due to arrive, Airbnb messaged to say that if we got in touch with our local health department, they would be able to advise, or we could host them at our own risk. Decided on the latter, worried about being penalised. So now we're having to have a mammoth cleaning session when they leave, otherwise it's hardly fair on the next guests. There's disinfectant 'bombs' which can do a whole room, so have ordered a pack of those.
