The grumpy thread

People moan a lot about fast fit garages but I still use them for tyres because they’re cheaper than anyone else. Never usually have much trouble either.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST - took the Astra to ATS for four tyres today. Booked a few days ago and just picked an available slot. No drama.

Of course the time to realise the tyres hadn’t actually been delivered was after stripping all four wheels!

They couldn’t give two fucks either - suggesting I call them to check if the delivery has come tomorrow because they’ll probably forget to call me!!

Not really sure what to make of this...

Somebody who feels great injustice at the very existence of garages 🤔

So he seems to think that garages should work throughout the night so they aren't inconvenienced* when their car needs to be repaired, it needs to be picked up, done free of charge, the garage needs to foot the bill of recovery when it's totally fucking fucked m8 and they should allow people to pay at their leisure, just trust them to pay at their convenience.

FRO. What a cretin!

The fuck is wrong with people?! Imagine having to pay for a service you've received, what an absolute outrage!!

I dare say this is discussed elsewhere, however...

I'm a lazy sod. If something is arranged and stays arranged and the lights come on, the credit card keeps working and the cars stay legal then I'm not going to shop round. I can't be arsed to save a few pence flitting from one service to another. I'm also happy to tick the "recurring billing" box if it stops me needing to remember something. I really think I'm the sort of person you want as a customer. Uncomplaining and lazy.

So why is it that there are some that just take the piss? More specifically why does the RAC always take the piss? ...

Similar with Green Flag every year, recently my renewal came for £82, checked online for the same cover for a new customer,  it's £67. Phoned up, they agree to match that price, not a huge saving but better in my pocket than theirs. It included a £25 admin fee, not sure if this is so that if you cancel, they can keep that and just refund the part they're classing as the premium?

Isn't that O2? I have a sim on that plan.

Definitely three, however O2 used to offer the same deal. They don't offer it any more to new customers but at least they never pulled the plug for existing customers unlike Three 🙄

Multicar insurance...How?

I can't get it. Never have been able to. Doesn't matter who i'm with, what i have or what i want to add, it's always 'No' or 2k+ a car additional from anyone who will.

Way cheaper to just take out a 2nd policy with no NCB.

Really? Are you a high risk?

Nope.

1 accident in 13 years. zero points on my license. Employed. Currently 4yrs NCB.

For example, was paying around £350 a year fully comp on my old Discovery, if i wanted to add anything, and i mean ANYTHING, to my policy, even something mundane like a 1.0 Yaris, they wanted well over a grand additional. Yet taking out a 2nd policy with no NCB would have 'only' been £650. So a grand all in.

It's the exact same today. Civic + 1 i'm looking at, most won't touch me via a new quote (and by that i mean prices like 6k, i.e we'll quote, but LOL NO), and the ones who will all want nearly 3x what i'm paying on the Civic on top of what i currently pay.

Multicar just always works out way more expensive for me. Always has. No idea why.

When sorting through my elderly neighbours AA paperwork , I think he was getting autorenewal since when they were allowed to do it ...in 2017 he had his licence revoked by the doctor, good move .

In 2021 he received his 60th year membership "free AA hardback map" , I looked into his policy details, full EU recovery, home start, windscreen, loads of other shit add-ons, his wife was named extra driver, even though she hadn't driven for 20+ years , but the good news was they had frozen the price for 2021 ....only £422 pounds !!!!!!!!!!! .

Absolute cunts , for a 20 year old Ford Ka ..... ,the furthest they used to go was Sainsbury's 2 miles down the road 😡😡😡😡

AA complaints department, he didn't let them know of any changes....but the cunts didn't bother to ask him , an 86 year old man , I'd hate to think how much they turned him over for over the years ....

Never ever go near the fkin AA ..

I booked my old 944 in for an MOT & a bit of a service tomorrow. It's barely been used these last couple of years & despite a solar panel connected to the battery, it had gone flat. Not a bother thought I, connected it to my old fashioned charger & left it for a couple of hours. Sure enough, after just enough churning to produce some oil pressure, it burst into life. It was a bit lumpy & rough, but the back window was open as it was still attached to the charger. I bobbed out disconnected & thought it smelled like it was running a bit rich. Perhaps it's the fuel preserver additive I can smell, but no, it was vigourously pumping fuel out from under the driver's floor & all over the drive. Obviously I switched it off and came in for a cup of tea, but I had a quick rummage through the pile of bills that accompany the old motor car & found one dated 21.5.20 for replacement 'rubber' fuel pipes - a mere 245 miles ago. I remember querying whether they had used the correct  ethanol resistant type at the time, but I got the impression that he didn't know what I was talking about. Recovery has been organised for tomorrow. It is unlikely to be returning to my local Porsche specialists...

Few weeks ago I said I had a rather lengthy and promising job interview - a friend at the company had made me aware they were opening a Manchester office and suggested a role that might suit me. A sidestep, admittedly: but one with a lot more potential for progression than my current dead end position, wherein I'm treated like shit, everyone has an arse/head interface and there's no potential for progession. Besides, WFH has got a bit wank after doing it for an entire year: I miss the world.

After a very involved hiring process where I was kept very much in the loop, wherein I'd discussed the role with the recruiter at length, I was offered an interview. On the day, the recruiter said I'd hear back from them within five days - after a fifty minute interview, the woman I'd been talking to quite amiably said I'd hear back in 48 hours.
A week passed and nothing, I asked the recruiter, my only point of contact, for an update: he said interviews were ongoing and he'd know who'd been chosen by May 31.
Heard nothing then or 1/6, then 2/6 was the Thursday at the start of the long weekend.
Left it yesterday then sent the recruiter an email yesterday (Tue 7/6) asking for an update.

It fucking bounced, I got an email back saying mailbox disabled.

Cunts. I guess that's out the window.

I just want a way out of my dead end job, but I seem to be simultaneously over and under qualified for every fucking job in existence. I need out of my current place for a lot of reasons, but nowhere seems to want me.

If you are lucky, the recruiter got binned and maybe someone else can help you at the recruitment agency? They are all snakes but some of the longer term ones have at least learnt to be human— the children they often employ who try to sound like they know anything about the actual job are uncaring and often fired pretty quickly anyway. It would be nice to get some “closure”!

I have edited my original post to be a little less aggressive, because I really am a lovely chap.

Looked at the pipes yourself? Could it be they've received rodent attention? Last time i was stood in a puddle of pez, it was mice/rats that had been putting rubber on the menu

I have looked, and the chap who recovered it has looked. We both think the leak is from where the new flexi joins the old steel.

Yeh could be a steel pipe that’s gone . Don’t go storming into the garage with a case of the “ since yous “ without making sure 😂

I never do anything without making sure!

I shall post comprehensive photographs in the next couple of days...

Is there a code on the pipe 🤔

I've grumped about absolutely useless dealers before (still waiting for the outcome of the "sorry we don't know how to fix your air conditioning" saga).

My colleague has a 21plate Kia Sportage.

There have been knocks and bangs from the back recently and he rearranged the stuff in the boot several times to no avail.

It wasn't until someone he knew was following him, they said the exhaust was at a funny angle.

The dealer said a weld had failed and they had ordered a new exhaust, but.... It wouldn't arrive until September.

They said a hire car was available until then but it had a £1000 damage excess which he said was unacceptable.

After phone calls back and fourth all morning, I just asked the question "can't they weld it for now?"

He asked the dealer to weld it.

They reacted like he had asked them to perform a seance on it. They knew what it meant, but had no idea why it would help or how to do it!

2 days later he has his car back after complaining to Kia UK.

They presumably managed to find someone who could perform a 2” weld.

I wonder if it was JB?

Back box on the Juke we had, snapped off, on the way to Mallaig ferry.  Using the ferry WiFi, we identified the nearest garage on Skye, and phoned them.  About 1/2 mile from the ferry terminal.  Yes bring it in.

They took a look and said.

Go and have lunch at the cafe next to the ferry and we will fix it.

  Went back an hour later.

They insisted on showing me the weld, charged £15. I gave then a £15 tip.

It saved our holiday.

If you’re in Manchester have you tried any of the universities? They rarely seem to get rid of staff, just move them around.

They prob couldn't find an app for welding it.
