YouTube's video voting system is now broken. First they took away down votes for comments. Now it is for videos too.

What is the point of voting?

This is the only entrance/exit to our housing estate with 200+ homes in it. It is totally blocked.

It looks like drain repairs and maintenance, which is rather invasive looking at the pile of roadsurface in the bottom corner. I bet they're replacing collapsed drains.

It's a bit of a Catch 22 for them: Do it during the day and block access to the estate, meaning residents cannot get in or out. Do it during the night and there's no access issues, but instead the noise will be the cause for complaint. Nobody wins.

I'd happily let them block our road (a main road) to fix our drains once and for all. They've been blocked for 16 years. I can also understand why people wouldn't be happy to see their new estate get torn up because of some issue that was glossed over during construction.

We can't see what signage is at those road works but if there is no alternative route then all they can do is 15 minute delays and let cars through when they can.

The wider context is that a) it's tarmacing the road by Bloor Homes, and b) there is an alternative entrance to the estate but Bloor Homes has bollarded it and it's not in use. 

I have no quarrel with the workmen. I have an issue with their paymasters

(and that wasn't aimed at you!)  I've heard some fairly shockingly bad advice from solicitors before now, so I can completely understand that you've been given bum information.  It's part of the reason why I linked to actual case law... no opinion there (professional or otherwise), it's absolute legal fact.

I'm not sure they always realise they're doing it, genuinely I think some folk use sitting an inch off someone's bumper to regulate their own speed. Doesn't make them any less of a cunt.

Aaaaand I've just had a torrent of abuse from someone on the next street over for occasionally parking a car there for a couple of hours.  Not in anyone's way, no parking restrictions and there's always a plethora of spaces available.  Isn't suburbia fun.

I'd a chap properly dangerously cut my up in the Jimny at a properly marked junction recently. I may have pushed the horn slightly longer than was necessary. They're also rather loud horns, Hella Supertones, they've got a bit of a kick to them, and in the Jimny it's like a terrier having the bark of a doberman. 

Knob head in a white Seat SUV thing. He stops ahead of me. And gets out. Spotty wee shite probably driving his mother's car. 

So I get out. Which is never a good idea because I'm not that sort of individual. But I'd had a bad day. 

I just don't think he expected a 6'4" 15st bloke to get out of a Jimny. I told him to fuck off and get back in your car. which he promptly did and then drove off rather quickly. 😂

Which is just as well as I don't really do confrontation.

Deffo this. Monday night I was driving the camper home from work from Chesterfield towards Baslow. Behind me was a BMW, pushing me along at 35 in a 30 limit. When the road opened up to two lanes up the hill and a 60 limit, he nearly clipped me, so eager he was to pass! Then proceeded to do 50MPH, brake way more than required for corners and generally dawdle along on the unfamiliar dark roads. He was seriously holding me up, and I was driving a fully loaded 3.5 tonne van with mud tyres on ffs!!!

Anyway, on two occasions cars pulled out of junctions well infront of him, and as soon as he saw this he'd accelerate to 65/70, catch them up and then tailgate the shit out of them, to the point where one guy brake checked when going through Baslow. Completely oblivious, as soon as these cars turned off he slowed back down to mid-40s on fast NSL lanes.

Yep, welcome to modern driving.

I get this a lot in my van. Right up my arse, eager to overtake, and yet as soon as we hit an NSL I'm miles away. Back into a 30 and after a few minutes I can see them barreling up behind me at 45.

The funniest response I heard to such people thinking that that own the street outside their house is to point that it’s not your fault and if they’d done better at life, they’d have a driveway.

Last bellend who did this to me (forced their way past while I was in a 30, then couldn't achieve more than 45 in a national) got solid full-beams and horn for about 20 seconds (which feels like absolutely bloody ages) as I was completely pig-sick of tossers like him.  He hadn't a clue what to do, so the instant the road allowed me to do, I went past and completely lost him.  I have a feeling he was boiling over with rage in his little box of hate, but as I was 300yds ahead of him and losing him at about 20mph, I could not have given less of a shit.

Most of the houses have and/or garages...hence why there's virtually noone parked on street there and it was possible for me to displace a car during driveway Tetris (I have to move two cars out of the way to get out of the garage, and there are a total of three on street parking spaces on our road, near always occupied by staff from the nearby school) without bothering anyone.  Or so I thought!

Nah, was thinking the van would work better.  Make sure I close the blinds first to ensure I block out as much daylight as possible...
