Zelandeth
Yeah, got it back up and going after a couple of hours. It had indeed just iced up. Need to confirm *why* it had iced up, but a stuffed defrost heater element is my current favourite. Unless someone left the door open for hours anyway. The condensate drain was pretty plugged too so getting in there wasn't probably a bad idea anyhow.

After the first abortive attempt at parking, he pulled out and had another crack. Nope, no good. The third attempt saw him reasonably straight, but he'd backed up close to my car by then, and I've got a long necked towbar sticking out. He didn't hit it though. He then opened the boot of his car and struggled to get a wheelchair out. And I say struggled because he'd come so close to my motor. While he was doing this, he was grumbling away and regularly looking in my back window. I could almost feel him thinking 'why don't you move'. Anyway, he finally got the chair out, then his missus and went tootling off to the hospital. It was a real 'why the fuck did he do that' moment and had me scratching my head. One place to the left or right of me and he'd have had no problems at all, because all around me was an ocean of space. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen that particular car park so empty. Why??? Mally
1 hour ago, Tetleysmooth said: I'll put this in the grumpy thread because I don't really know where else to put it. Have we got a 'why the fuck did he/she do that', head scratching thread? Last Sunday, Mrs Tet injured her right eye. Apparently, she caught it with a fingernail. Neither of us realised how bad it was at the time, and we both thought it would clear itself up later that day. It didn't. Monday morning saw it worse and her eye looked like she'd gone ten rounds with Tyson Fury. So, over to A&E at Queens Hospital, Romford. I dropped her off and went to the car park. I was well into my second 2 hour ticket when I got the call to meet her at the main entrance. She came out carrying a couple of Costas, which was bloody welcome at the time. In front of the hospital, as well as pick up points, there's another car park, but it's exclusively for disabled. It's pretty bloody big. and last Monday, it was reasonably empty.. so I drove to the far side where there was most room and stopped in a bay where could enjoy our coffees. Something caught my eye, (no pun intended). There was a fairly new Fiesta backing up to the rear of my car, and making a piss poor job of it too, he was coming in at a 45 degree angle. Now remember, I'd gone to the far side where there were dozens of spaces, bags of room either side and in front of me. Mrs Tet had scratched the cornea of her eye badly. She's on eight eye drops and day, which I've been administering. Pleased to report it's now clearing up, although she is still getting the occasional belt from it. First point. Are you or your wife disabled, and in possession of a badge? If not your rant is irrelevant as you had no right to be there. Lets assume you have a badge, You parked out of the way. He had a fairly new Fiesta (probably Motability) , so he also parked out of the way, in his head. He had a few goes at getting straight, don't we all at times? You have a long necked towbar. I've had a few, they are a pain, always banging your legs on them. He had to lift a wheelchair out. Hardly a crime. You seem to think because the car park was almost empty your bit belonged to you, in the same way as he thought it belonged to him. Your wife scratched her eye. The guys sorting a wheelchair for his wife who can't walk well. It happened last Monday! That's a week ago, get over it. For the record, I am slightly biased, My wife died 2 years ago this Xmas, I unloaded and pushed her wheelchair for 20 years. It's not always fun, but it's worse when you can't. Waderider
Tetleysmooth, if you parked in a disabled space without the badge you're in the wrong. It's black and white, no one is picking on you. My mother in law is in a wheelchair and every day peoples thoughtless actions make her, and her carers life a little difficult. It doesn't sound like you where really impacting on the Fiesta driver directly, but the poor man shall be worn down from being a carer in a society that neither cares or makes an effort to accommodate him.
