Sir Snipes
To me it sounds like Pod's Mrs may be depressed?Anyway saw Bohemian Rhapsody last night. Really liked the film but I came away feeling like I was too young at the time to appreciate the events in the film (Bo Rap's video, Live Aid etc) but also feeling very old - he died almost 30 years ago. Lord Sterling
New POD **** During the week, you're not far from me and other Midlands-based shiters. If ever you feel a bit shit and need a chat, you are welcome to come to mine. I'll PM you my number and address so you only need contact me off forum if needs be. We are both suffering because of wives but I think more you than me. I managed to speak to my wife this morning, seemingly all back to normal but there is a nagging doubt that our minor arguement isn't over. D Spares & Tyres
Is it worth the aggro though? My ex was a pain in the arse. Parky
Hey Parky, new employer here. Be great if you could pop in for a pre start training session Sure new employer, free anytime except Friday 16th November, specifically can’t do that day. Any other day or time but not that one. I received an invite to a pre start training session today. Have a guess when it is scheduled for? Life's too short for all that nonsense. It's a tricky one but, after you continually try to stop someone doing something destructive, you have to stand back and view the whole thing with a certain detachment. I can tell you from experience that nothing brings a PITA spouse to sudden contrition than you telling them that you've had enough and you're leaving them. I don't regret my divorce as such - it was the best decision for both of us but it was me that had to make it.
clayts450
This all day. As I say, I think £1500 is a more realistic price - 25 GTis are well sought after and there's not many left on the road. What boiled my piss was the bloke trying to sell it back at six times the price he paid to the same community (myself included) who encouraged him to buy it in the first place, thinking he was a genuine Rover-licker. And him thinking that this was in any way 'okay'. Sure, if he'd invested some money in getting the belts done and given the car a full valet, that's different and proper Wheeler Dealers. But to expect to flog it with that sort of profit and doing fuck all to the car to improve its worth is never gonna end well. Good luck to the lad if he turns a profit, but sadly for him the MGR community is small and word has already spread like wildfire about his antics. He'll be lucky to clear a grand now. I might ironically buy it off him at £301 when he's down on his luck and still saddled with it after it shits its head gasket and chews its belt to ribbons. Price plummetting like a stone now.... down to £1200 https://www.gumtree.com/p/rover/2000-rover-25-1.8-gti-3dr-silver-rare-gti-/1320676948 Tam and Tadhg Tiogar

dozeydustman
POD - your mrs sounds like she needs some serious help given your report. I would guess that she has a mental or physical issue that is causing her to go over the edge. I don't think what you have tried to do is unreasonable by any means. I don't know how old either of you are, I don't know how fit and healthy you both are. My mum was and one of my sister-in-laws is a massive pain in the arse while going through the change - rage, angst and I know my sister in law's other half is having a real hard time of it at the moment. The bunging things at the back of the drawer until they get filed properly seems a normal thing to do that many couples do with no cause for alarm. There is nothing wrong with giving an opinion that house 1 is better than house 3 but not as good house 2 - that's what couples do when looking for a new home. Do as others have suggested and see a marriage counsellor. There's a big chance it will highlight the problem which hopefully can be sorted quickly. Probably worth visiting your doctor and asking for a full body MoT each as well, might be a hormonal imbalance or a physical issue. If this doesn't sort the problem or won't go through with these ideas, the only alternative would be to end it.

I can confirm that depression is absolutely bloody horrendous to try and live with. There is no rational thinking, because that's the point of depression. There are spiteful words and eggshells waiting to be smashed to pieces by clumsy feet. You can't attack the problem with logic, because depression is illogical. It's horrible. You can't attack the problem with logic, because depression is illogical. It's horrible.Never a truer words spoken...and annoyingly, due to unique way the NHS work trying to get help before the occurrence of "a major depressive event" is nearly impossible. We were virtually spelling out in foot high neon letters to our GP that one of our household needed major help with a combined anxiety and depression problem or something would happen, and that just throwing some amitriptyline at the problem wasn't cutting it. Fast forward to eight months later when she hit what we think was a fox on the way into work, being the straw that broke the camel's back. The events that then set in motion included her waking up in a police cell, having spent a not inconsiderable time on suicide watch, and us discovering that the whole "innocent until proven guilty" idea in the justice system doesn't exist. Instead it's on our heads to provide the "burden of proof" to prove she hadn't driven the car after the breakdown started and things started to unravel. After that happened, hey look... they're suddenly willing to make the referrals and immediately put her on the medication we'd been asking for (the person in question has medical training and works in that field, so knows the stuff better than your average person off the street) for the last two years. The medication and specialist referrals that probably could have prevented the breakdown in the first place and saved the NHS the cost of having to put the necessary care in place in the following weeks. This was in 2016, we're just about back on an even keel following it now... The Reverend Bluejeans and paulplom
Stanky
Minor grump in the grand scheme of things, but my shiny valve caps decided to fuse themselves to the valve (and not one person was surprised). You can imagine whats coming can't you? 8.45 pm yesterday... Tried to heat them to undo them. No good. Tried getting a smoll socket on them. No good. Tried gripping the valve stem with mole grips and twisting the valve cap with the smoll socket. Pop. hisssssssssss. FFS. Idiot. valve and cap sheared right off, tyre instantly deflated. went to get the jack to jack the car up and put the spare wheel on. Car was too low for the trolley jack so had to put the widowmaker scissor jack in. but couldn't wind it upn properly because this was the tyre on the kerb side so had to wind it up 1/2 a turn at a time. eventually got the car jacked up enough to get the trolley jack in, trolley jack wouldn't lift it high enough because I think its got a hydraulic oil leak. go get other jack, get it in place and it starts to rain. Its now dark AND raining. jack car up, swap tyre for space saver spare, which is only at 20psi. go and get foot pump, pump up tyre to 50psi in the dark and rain. Hoy remove wheel and tyre into the boot. take jack out, but can't remove it because the car is too low, jack it back up on the scissor jack to remove the trolley jack, then take back down off the scissor jack. cry a little bit go back inside. Why can't I have nice things? Why does this happen to me? Why do bad things happen to good people? etc etc. FML. The other side is the same, I'm taking it to the tyre place for new valves and will personally hoy the metal caps into the solent. plastic caps ftw. drum, somewhatfoolish, D Spares & Tyres and 2 others

The Reverend Bluejeans
For anyone who suffers the Black Dog, I can recommend the six week (once a week) courses the NHS hold. A bloke or Lady speaks for half an hour outlining why you feel like this, tea break, and then someone else takes over. I went and was surprised at how full a modern city centre church can be. The very act of just going is enormously helpful - it's confirmation that you have issues, and that you're dealing with them......and that it's not just you. The pressures of modern life on many will only make this more prevalent. Best part, it's free and very good because NHS. Zelandeth
Been there too Stanky! Metal caps are fine so long as there's a smear of grease on the threads. I've never had issues on any car I've put them on - but ended up having to have all four valves swapped when I bought a car with them already in place as they had welded themselves to the valve stems. Probably not an issue if you check tyre pressures as often as you really should...but I'm as guilty as failing there as anyone! Stanky
