Reason we are moving is that our bills were £350 a month.

Got our meter changed, bought owl electricity monitor and avoided the heating to halve it but wasn't fun.

I done paid 900 quid for gas and stuff for a four bedroomed bungalow in chilly Scotland. Pre-paid is a rip off by the sounds of it.

My workshop costs around £90 a month just for the electric. Unfortunatly the landlords pay the site electricty bill then sell it to us so we can't change supplier. It is taking the piss really as I am only here 5 days a week running just a computer and 2 strip lights most of the time.

What's with Radio 2 playing all that modern Country and Western music after 6pm now? It's truly the worst type of music invented. I can't stomach folk music either, but it's not as bad as the bland wailing of some inbred South American hoiky oiky bellend in a plaid coat. Why is it allowed on the BBC, it's a SHITE. it really is.

120 quid?! How can it cost so much? Is it really using that much gas to heat a house, it doesn't seem correctly aligned. they also haven't lowered there prices yet, as it 'usually takes 3 - 4 months to realign', which is bollocks. They won't tell OFGEM why or show how much of a profit they are making in the meantime, and OFGEM are saying 'OK then'. Basically gas suppliers are telling OFGEM to do one, and they are taking it.

Its not Gas, its electric, all electric, No Gas in newer builds now. (Well not many anyway) so I dont have a Gas bill.

This week I have unplugged my landline phone, I only have one because I need broadband at home. All I get on the landline is fuckin PPI bollox and scam competitions, so the phone now remains unplugged so it cannot ring, and I have taken the email facility off my blackberry phone because that is 80% bollox emails as well, Why do companies think that because I once booked a flight / hotel / bought something from them that I want to hear from them every fuckin week for the rest of my life.

So now the PPI calls and emails from giant companies can F R O.

Wife came home and could'nt open door from inside.

Stripped door down - cable had snapped. New one obtained from Ford (£16+ vat), while stripping the door down I thought I saw something drop out of the lock as I removed it.

Refitted new cable- door opens from inside but not outside.

The "thing" I saw drop was a tiny spring - I have no idea where it lives, the top had snapped off.

MOT due the 24th, needs 4 tyres, overdue for a cambelt, thermostat housing is dripping again, despite being in good nick and only covered 55k I think it may be getting bridged - it is worth £500 with an MOT.

Landlord will be ripping you off by charging extra for your electric, but it sounds to me like you need some energy saving. Look at LED lighting or just turning off what you dont need.

Ive got a small unit with an office that is 21 degrees and brightly lit all day, the workshop lights are left off unless im in there then they are all on cos I like it bright when im working, i run my big compressor, welder and all other tools when im in the workshop and my electric averages out at around £1 a day over the year.

My office heater was expensive at around £250 compared to a £20 convector heater but turns itself on before I get to work and maintains the temperature within ½ a degree during the day using a fraction of the electricity the cheap heater uses. The problem with saving electric is it takes a big upfront investment for the right equipment but the paybacks are there.

Parcel2go have removed the insurance from cheapy hermes parcels, and now are pimping the hell out of paying for insurance. You have to tell them no twice to book a parcel n then they spam email you to try a third time.

They want 5%+ VAT for insurance. What kind of mong would pay that?

Their bean counters have obviously sussed 5% will cover the claims and make a profit on top. I can put 5% in a jar, it will cover my losses and I get to not give them a profit or pay the VAT.

The biggest problem is the landlords price per unit. I might get the meter checked as well though as one of the other tennents found their meter was clicking away even with everything switched off.

Is the 5% not insurance premium tax?

Blimey, there are some big leccy bills in here. I pay about £40 in the winter/£35 in the summer and usually in credit by £40 or so by the end of the year. Got no gas, all electric heating and water. I'm not particularly careful with electricity, e.g washing or tumble drying through the night or anything, though I'm not deliberately wasteful either. During the winter there's no way of drying clothes (storage heaters are GR0 for this unless you don't mind clothes horses all over the shop) so the dryer gets some hammer.

Nope. 5% of the parcel value if you want it insured against loss. I only send low value stuff with them. Definitely not worth it.

Scottish Power - "You've recently moved home or changed supplier", neither I'm afraid, fail.

Posted

Booked cartakeback collection for between 1-4pm. The driver turned up at 11 45 whilst I was in work 10 miles away.

By time I got home he had gone and not heard a thing since.

Added to Scottish power being a massive bunch of pricks and my arsehole of a landlord has decided to fix bits of the house(so he can sell it) has been a shit day

Pay them back by simply removing the battery and the cat.

405 diesel with Bosch pump, I think.

Thats good innit, Theyre either making a fat profit out of it or acknowledging that they lose 1 parcel in 20 right?

Can you imagine making a claim on an insurance policy bought off a fuggin cheapy courier outfit, I cannot think of any situation less likely to result in a satisfactory outcome.

That's tempting, although i'm on a shite buying siesta at the mo. Did you go for that dissler Rover 75 on the facebook page in the end? I couldn't think of a reason not to buy it, other than the shite siesta i'm on.

Oh, I don't need it, probably won't ever repair it and have nowhere to keep it. That one? Yeah, I'm off to see it tomorrow.

You need a few beers and rethink............it just needs a few consumables and maybe a few minutes on Google ?

So.

Do the cam belt, four decent 5mm part worns, fix the coolant leak. The fact that the car is only worth £500 is a point in its favour. It could be worth 5 grand and have modules for every bastard thing.

Can be done.... just a sharply worded email copying in the CEO with the final line " If you are making so little money that you have to quibble over a £20 insurance claim, may be i should be using another courier"  Did the job...

Is it just me? I know we have cyclists on this forum but those fucking strobe lights that are being used nowadays are doing my tits in.

I'm drawn to the flashing disco ball like a moth to a flame. Surely to fuck they can't be legal.

Mutter mutter. What the fuck was up with RayOvac lights anyway....

I only use mine if someone overtakes me far too closely.

I don't like flashing bike lights and only use a fixed?constant?solid? ?? light.

And an eye melting head torch that could knock helicopters out of the sky.

Have you tried the Cree type ones, Louise? The main beam on them is akin to a motorbike, they're superb.

I have two and when I ride down the pitch black, unlit country lanes to work at 5.30am it's like daylight.

Flashy bike lights are indeed illegal in the UK, unless they're used alongside ones that are on solidly. Flickering lights actually attract the eye and make you more noticeable, which can only be a plus.
