Lockdown friendly collection French Fancy Fae Fife!

Well not the most exciting or epic collection thread - a giddy 8 miles return home and sadly no petrol station shot!

Procured from @dome s tame Clio Fettler - viewed yesterday and collected this evening.  Despite the quality of new iPhone pics are a bit pants and will get some better ones up tomorrow when detailed inspection complete!  @dome many thanks for the intro and nice to meet you this evening!

Seller kindly put back on stock springs as I wasn’t enjoying the lowered experience!!  Main issue is the exhaust which has been fettled but loud - feels like being punched in the head when giving it some - and I am really too old for that shite!   On the look out for something more subtle!  Then probably usual service bits and change the random budget boots - usual places are coming up with fairly standard offerings - need to research and see if worth getting something sportier.

Fancied one of these for a while - and great to have one that can be tinkered with - hoping to not have the same excitement as the other 172 thread @SiC

More to come tomorrow but meantime have some shite pics

Well caught that man!! Good to see another Clio 172/182 on here.. Inferno orange too, best colour in my books.

I’ve got budgets shoes on mine too, but previous research suggests Michelin Pilot Sport 3’s are a very popular and highly regarded tyre choice for these cars

I've got Toyos on mine. Tbh they're pretty good in the dry but shit in the wet. I have pilot sport 4 on my Boxster and they're ace. Given a choice I'd change but the Toyos are nearly new.

Yeah, you don't want Toyos in Scotland. We sacked them off on the MR2 and went on to Rainsports. The clue is in the name...

Well didn’t get to do much today but a wash off and good look over - a few daylight pics to evidence!  Overall really pleased - apart from the back arch and a few dings its in really good shape found a few jobs to do - main thing to investigate is leak on boot into headlining - I think its the grommet/tube that takes wires to the boot will take the spoiler off and investigate.  Tyres is still top of the list - much fun as it is sliding round roundabouts!!

Looking at tyres seems to be interchangeable between 195s and 205s. Any experience on whether I’m likely to notice a big difference as the price adds up when buying 4!

Well I’ve been fairly crap at updating this - but then I have done very little!   Only been on a couple of short trips but the exhaust has to go - needs a cat too unless I leave de-cat.

Have traced the leak to the arial so will try and sort that tomorrow - trip to u pull it for a fresh one and some other bits I think.

I do fear I may have borked the immobiliser as the clock and radio have reset when I was messing around - I’ve just put on charge and the battery is reading empty so fingers crossed that I’ve just run the battery down while I have been messing - but suspect I am kidding myself - so may be back on here for advice on what I have done and how I fix it!!

in the mean time have a picture while I was out the other night

  • 3 months later...

Well 4 months in and done very little - got my priorities right though and bought some team heko wind deflectors - not fitted!  I haven’t really jelled with this yet - I needed something to save losing my NCB that was 2 years up and fancied one of these for a while - suspect its that weather has been too shit to do anything!   Gave her a good clean today and doesn’t look half bad!  trying to work out if I spring for a quiet exhaust and keep her for a while or move her on - I keep seeing other things now and I am fickle!

Some cleaned up shots
