Shite from the TV that has/hasn’t survived

And I know it's big screen rather than small, but it always pleases me to see this at VW shows, usually just in the main car park. Most people assume it's another replica, but it's the real deal, the main car used in the Herbie films. Still has the distinctive roll cage and blanked off VW badges, and best of all with the correct registration

As I’m a saddo , I often put the numbers of cars in old telly programmes into Vehicle Smart . Most are long gone or come up as a 2019 Rangie or something, but there was an Avengers episode recently with an E-Type and Mercedes 220SE convertible that are both still taxed.
By the 80’s they’re usually made up numbers though.

Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased):  Jeff Randall's Victor failed to survive, as did the actor who drove it, but Marty Hopkirk's Mini, and the actor involved, made it.  The Mini has been the subject of at least one article in Mini World magazine.

At least one of the Volvos driven by Roger Moore in The Saint also survived; it was in the Cars Of The Stars collection at Keswick.

We all know Regans consul has survived! @TripleRichlicked it personally (or bled onto it, one of the two)

Terry's capri in Minder too, and I'm sure the minder forum places a few of Arthur's jags into the 'saved' and known about category

Where had the Consul been in the intervening years I wonder?

That's about as genuine as the Adidas Wallet I bought for the equivalent of around 50p in Tunisia.

That’s superb, that was a seminal music video that has stood the test of time but reading the link it’s not the actual car from the video but just possibly some parts from it.

Two of the Mokes from The Prisoner survived.

One was verified as the reg was shown in one of the episodes by mistake - last I heard it was up for sale at 70K !!

There was another that made its way to America. I think i read 4 in total were confirmed used in the program so a 50% survival rate isnt bad.

Non of the Sweeney or professionals Cortinas survive.or Granada's

Two different estate mk3's where used in the two series of shoestring both wore the same false plt so their identities are unknown.

The 3 MK3 Capri's from professionals survive & rumours have circulated for years that Doyle's white RS2000 does.

There's a yellow MK1 Mexico that Terry & Arthur walk past in the street in a minder episode that survives, also I believe the the mk2 escort that was to be Terry's car ( in the background of carlot in titles) also survives.

Sure I read somewhere that one of the XJS's from return of the Saint does.

Gene Hunts MK3 survives as does the mk2 cavalier that sent Sam back in time.

The 1st General Lee does as does the first AMC matador that was Rosco's sheriff's cruiser.

John Schneider also owns one of the General Lee's used on the show.

One of the two F series used by uncle Jessie went to Australia, cooters first tow truck was eventually blown up in an episode of the X files after many years of use as a hack around the Warner studios.

I seem to remember one the pair of Boss Hoggs caddies as well as one of the two CJ jeeps used by daisy survives.

Seem to recall that Emma Peels elan does too along with steeds Bentley.

The Italian job mini's do along with the Aston & the blue E type & possibly the Landie but non of the other vehicles I believe.

The coach was unfortunately scrapped in I think the 80's.

Both of the Bullit Mustangs survive.

Seem to remember someone saying Dempsey's Merc SL does too.

One of Morse's jags & bergerac's triumph roadster ,I once met the guy that had the trotter van from the blowup doll episode, the mk2 Cortina crayford driven by Rodney in an episode does too.

The Eleanor from original. Gone in 60 seconds survives.

The white thunderbird from American graffiti & I think the 58 impala survive.

Fonzie's triumph motorcycle does too.

I seem to recall a pair of Gran Torino's from the TV series of starsky & hutch do ( belonged to the same owner).

Best I can remember at moment.

Don't think there's any chance the most famous car in sitcom history has survived.

The Cars of the Stars museum in Keswick had something on a wall saying they were trying to trace it. Good luck with that.

Oddly in about 1999 or thereabouts there was an a5 mini directory of specialists with classic and sports car magazine. Bizarrely there was a period picture on a page with a little article about buying from a dealer and one of the cars on the forecourt was that car (wlg142e) it wasn’t singled out it was just in a row with others.

Bollocks!

We believe that parts of the original car that were sold for scrap many years ago have been used on this very car

In the same way that I might believe that my Velosolex did a 120mph flying lap of the Nurburgring, or that some people might believe that the moon is made of green cheese etc.

That was a classic series! Did it ever get issued on DVD?

Patrick McGoohan's Lotus in The Prisoner (KAR120C) - when you put that number into DVLA it's on a modern Caterham...

I can only find shit quality copies of the Teardrop Explodes' 'Reward' on YouTube, but I bet anyone watching in HD could read the plate of the Austin Champ the band are riding around in.

There were at least 2 Lotus 7s used in The Prisoner - both supplied by Caterham.  KAR 120C  had been sold before the final episode was shot, and another 7 was substituted, and I think a third one appears somewhere in the series.  KAR 120C was exported and is generally agreed to have been written off in an accident, but Caterham retained the registration number for their own use.

All the main vehicles from UFO survived.Fosters silver car is on the road in Australia, the two six wheel security vehicles reside in Italy and the Canary Islands.Strakers car is interred in a back garden in the Midlands and in a dreadful state.A replica has recently been made by a fan.

The Italian Job minis all had fake plates in the film. The builders of the replicas managed to buy the relevant uninssued reg numbers from DVLA and created the cars on brand new Heritage bodyshells.Effectively new cars on private plates. They used at least 9 different Cooper S's during filming, there is a very good chance that somewhere someone has a genuine original car but doesn't realise. The coach was scrapped in the nineties I believe after being re fitted with seats and going back into service.A replica of this also exists.

We'll have to agree to disagree about that - it was found, along with several of the police cars but was in a bad way. After a few years of being shown it was "rebuilt" with a different body. So not the same car IMO. Each to their own but I feel it should have been left as found

I read they had rented a lock up in Italy and when filming finished they just packed up and left. Maybe somewhere on the alps there are some Minis that weren’t recovered.
