I can't remember what year I signed up to the little chat-room style Autoshite forum, but it was in the early half of 2000’s, and in the Regal Hotel in Hong Kong. I do know what car I had because I still have it today.

Nice saggy rear springs due to SLS failure in previous owner's tenure and who replaced them with XJ6 spec ones. They don't work well on 12's. This was my daily while in UK and it wafted between Cambridgeshire and Cologne several times a month for 3 months every year until I sold out to the Germans sometime in 2006. It rotted on a driveway for about 5 years and I had it restored

It still looks as good as this now and is in storage in Scotland awaiting me to get my ass into gear and ask WorldofCeri to bring it to me.

I bought it in 2000 with about 43k miles on it, and it now has 163k and I aim to finish running it in soon.

Over in China, where I was living (hence the forum name) I had this:

and thisDSC00133.thumb.JPG.c8eeb46a09f4982d5ca89eee14dbb3f3.JPG

both long since fragged - the Pajero had nearly 600k km on the clock at the end. From memory it had 5 gearboxes during its life, 3 new top ends, but the original block. If it wasn't for the scrappage laws in China, it would still be going today - I have no doubt.

This is the current daily bought new in 2011, and intend to have in 2031. Low spec E35CDi - none of the silly toys that go wrong (other than air suspension)

I think it was around 2011 and I was dailying my Fiat X1/9.

I idly googled its registration number which led me to Autoshite- one of the Scottish contingent had photographed it at Bo’ness hillclimb- who was that?

I was deeply offended by it being described as “sporty shite”, but hung round long enough to realise its a term of endearment.

Still got it...

edit: here’s the thread! It was @cms206he’s responsible!

I think I joined in 2008, on the advice of Mr Scruff. Struggling to recall what I owned at the time, as I change so often (bet Wuvvum is having a bigger headache though!).

This was definitely on fleet.

And this Mini.

Thinking about it, I think I owned this Alfa Romeo 164 Lusso auto in 2008. I paid £375 and it even had working air con! I stupidly sold it because a brake kept binding and I still didn't know how brakes work. Idiot.

I believe it was the 106 diesel back then. Loved it - sipped fuel and went ok. Cant find a picture of it other than this one - girl who had it afterwards biffed it in the snow. Seen it  and pictured  it in a yard a while afterwards.

It was rescued and lived on for a while afterwards - £200 clearance trade in when I bought it.

I recall I was working on the community in Blackpool and think I was driving the Bimmer when I first joined up ( Ive had a few I'd's so cant be 100%)

Right - ive found my first user profile and I joined on 04 June 2006

So given that we scrapped the bimmer after the holiday when it shat itself and it ended its days on the oval I must have had at that time the Fiesta Mk3 shortly followed by the Laguna 1.

I think I must have found this site via Practical Classics' Rust in Peace section.  Joined some time in 2012, at which point I was driving this perfectly acceptable, if rather underpowered and bland C'eed 1.4, which is terrifyingly now 8 years old.  The only brand new car I ever bought, I was self-employed and needed something I could fill with boxes of IT kit and that looked smart and presentable, sold it back to the dealer just over 2 years later as I wasn't using it after I stopped needing it for my business.

It in turn had replaced my nice but impractical orange 1.6 Astra Coupe and a very dog-eared and smelly old Kangoo van.  That Kia was a cursed car, within its first 2 years a Dogs Trust dog I was taking for a walk puked copiously on the back seat (twice) when it was barely 6 months old, then someone drove into the side of it, a wheel bearing failed (most likely as a result of that accident), a paint tin fell off a shelf in my garage and dented the bonnet and the front passenger door would never shut properly.  I could not get on with the seats and eventually replaced it with a rather well known Rover 220SLi which was superior in just about every possible way and cost me less to buy outright than the Kia was costing every month.

That said, while I still had the Kia, shortly after joining I took my first leap into proper shiteing with a £200 Nova 5 door bought off eBay sight unseen.  That thread's still around somewhere, sadly after I got it back on the road I never really gelled with it, sold it when I moved house as I had nowhere to put it anyway and it was scrapped a few months later - no idea why as it was a very solid little car.  RIP E788 RLJ - no photos remain unfortunately, I think they were all on Photobucket and that account is long dead.

I spent a good while poking my head in and having a look through the forum, I found it though a link on RetroRides IIRC in november 2019

I read a good few project threads and decided to chuck mine in the mix.. ;)

I bought my Bus in 2017, much to my families dismay!

Inbetween while the P38 was down and out I owned a Rover 25, that was so disgusting I had o wear gloves when driving it!

A Very high mileage Disco 2 which has broken in a bad way..

And finally a MK3 Mondeo which had everything wrong with a common rail duratorque! ;)

I can't find any pictures for my sign up date 1st Dec 2010.

The best I can manage is Sep 2010 photos, but all the cars were still with me 1st Dec. Also we still have a fair number from 2010 today.

There were others of course but while all purchases are in a list, it is pen and paper and a bit messy to easily say what I had on any particular date.
