We went to the porsche museum year about 6 or 7 years ago. It was alright...

The sinsheim museum you mentioned earlier however, that is amazing!! I went there as a kid and then again a few years ago, the scale of the place is insane!

Another nice museum is the saab museum in trollhätten in sweden. We were on a road trip round the country and i didnt even know it existed or indeed where saabs were built until we drove into the town. It was the nicest surprise and made it a brilliant holiday!

back at the airport now

pics tomorrow of speyer if im not asleep :D - the flight is half six

shalambralaxy did 1300 kms since saturday morning - used 75 euro of fuel

it was doing 40mpg I think 150 kmh mostly apart from the top speed run - anything above 170 needs concentration due to the road surfaces mostly concrete the ridges and bumps move you about and dutch and swiss -(ffs) tourists

I did the Porsche and M-B museums in 2017, unfortunately a year too late for the "40 Jahre Porsche Transaxle" exhibition, which I would have liked. Hopefully they'll do a 50 Jahre one in 2026, by which time Alusilber Jr will be old enough to do the factory tour with me...😁

That M-B museum is indeed particularly impressive though.

Apparently they sold off the correct no 23 1970 Le Mans winner (the saltzburg entry in red and white) when they threw the towel in on them at the end of 1971 and the buyer (polak) then sold it to a Japanese collector. They tried to buy it back and gave up; so made a replica that often is stated as the 1970 Le Mans winner. Odd to flog it in a way as they were obsessed with Le Mans and clearly it’s a massive part of their view of their heritage today. It’s what they are as a brand. Their first outright winner but it’s not in their collection.

Great pics, I’ll have to go one day.

Went to pick up milk late tonight and as I trudged back through the car park, I heard a deep throated beetle go by. Look up and it’s an incredible silver 356 A coupe looking all outlawed.
Pretty much my dream car since about 1987 when I started driving. Wish I could say one day one will be mine, but have never quite been able to get my pay to catch up with that level of inflation.
Achingly cool though.
Thanks for posting. I went to the old museum that was a little more than a long big garage back in the early 90s. Managed to tour the plant too.
‘If you get the chance, the Prototypo museum in Hamburg has more of the same and well worth a visit.
