I'm not quite sure if it's an AWD 2.4 or later 2.5. Goes like stink is what I know. I apologise for considering any rear suspension system where I can just replace fewer than 8 bushings to be Torsion Beam. ?

Also. Pez shot.

But hey. There's more.

Gas shot. FUEL OF THE FUTURE.

850s are ace!  Well bought. AWD back end is very different (900 derived axle for starters) so it won’t be difficult to rule that out, which seems probable as they’re very rare.

I meant it could have the 2435cc engine block from the AWD model (also shared with V70, C70 and FWD 2.5T), many of which are available from Japan. Not that is has AWD system. Or it could just be the later 2522cc engine which is even more common. ?

It doesn't have the proper T-5 2319cc engine though.

Does it have the early version on board diagnostics thing under the bonnet?

Make that a huge fat yes.

The interior has diagnostic port hole behind the coin holder but when you remove the cover you'll be greeted with absolutely nothing. ?

That looks glorious. Lambda light on my old 850 mkII (V70) was curable by ragging the shit out of it

Doesn't work here I'm afraid. Lambda light is due to LPG addition.

Oi! I resemble that remark!

I had a '93 2.0-20v 854GLT manual, a '96 2.5-10v 854S auto, a '96 854 T-5 SE manual (about the lowest spec I've ever seen on an 850 - cloth, keep fit windows, no aircon etc) and a '96 855TDi GLT auto.

The 2.5-10v was my favourite.

  • Conan changed the title to Volvo 850: Big Bird, Minion, Spongebob and a few other yellow characters.

Blimey not a single update to this thing. Sorry.

As hairnet alluded to in the last post of this thread and as I've told people of discord, I hella crashed into a wall 2 days into ownership, breaking the previous record in the process. The arse end took it like a brick shithouse it really is and the damage is minimal. Drove it like that the whole time but It's being done as we speak and will be mint again this Saturday, probably. I also took this opportunity to redo the roof as there's weird imperfections and peeling paint from removing the sunroof visor. This car definitely doesn't have a hole in the roof so I don't know why it's there. I also removed the door visor. I feel the 850 styling works best with clean, boxy line. I even don't mind the roof rack-less appearance but that will go back on as it seems lacking something when it's not there.

I also did the fuel vent hose and filler neck rubber seal as shown in the first picture.  Eagle eyed viewer will notice a set of Volans I put on which in my opinion is the superior option to the 5 spokes Titan or Pegasus although incorrect to these yellow bastard. Even more eagle eyed viewer will also notice a different number plate which I have raepd from certain other automobile.

All in all. I should also note that other than those things I've mentioned nowt went wrong during the 51 days of ownership. I've driven it about 1,800 miles now and loving every bits of it. I should do a review actually. Maybe next time.

Do you see many parts for sale over there ?

As I'd love a set of those side lights / indicators with the built in orange side markers.

The part supply is incredible. Anything and everything is available. Those side markers are Taiwan pattern part still in production which means they're everywhere even on eBay. It's more difficult to find clear one, just like the grille which Taiwan also only makes the eggcrate. I naturally prefer original slats which is somehow less common.

Goal for the car as of today.

- Walbro GSS342 255 Fuel Pump

- Either "Blue" S70 T5 or "Green" S60R injectors

- K24 Turbo with accompanied Exhaust Manifold from S60R

- Aeromotive Fuel Regulator

- Remap

This should allows for 300hp for est.700 quid.

Not quite done. Some other details to get to, they said it'll be done Monday. Same garage that did my Corolla. It appears they did a terrific job though as the existing paint isn't even correct to the manufacturer Cream Yellow. This was actually pretty much a custom paint mix.

Updates seem so trivial isn't it? It is a gradual but constant improvements. I hope the bigger upgrades will come very soon and not big broken bits. The car seems to be very dependable so I hope it stays that way and I sure am glad I did my homework correctly this time.

Also my miniature one is now in the front instrument binnacle, not blocking anything useful either. Reminding me of what my car looks like while driving. No pic yet though because I'm too delighted with the result.
