Of course, at this end of the market you get what you are given.  I was merely hinting at a liking for the obscure, finding a yellow wing for a particular Suzuki is much more satisfying than a corsa that needs a new tyre.

It's just the kind of feedback I want too.

Last thing I want to document is what I fancy if the whole idea is to document what someone else will want to see.

Problem with having really good light is you see every single blemish and you can get over critical of the finish.

This car is no exception.

Take the worst off with the little nubbing pads and then polish with a DA and some 3m green, and it's coming on OK.

Panel fit, bumpers and a wash and proper polish and this should really look great when it's finally done.

Target is to get it gone for the weekend as we want to get my T4 in for MOT prep.

I find artificial light can show up every blemish, but outside in natural light they are barely noticeable.

Nice to see it going back together.

Yep, absolutely.

To be honest we could put it back together and give it back and they'd be happy with it, but Dave G isn't and as the "talent" when it comes to bodywork he has the final say.

I've already had to tell him not to refurbish the wheels as well, as he's been checking to see if 13s would go in our blast cabinet as he reckons he could improve the current finish. 😂

Nice work chaps. Not easy to find people who'll get embroiled in this sort of stuff. You look like just the sort of set-up that could smarten up my green Mazda 929. I'd need to sort a rotten door bottom on it first I suppose. Are you able tell us a ball park cost for the work youve done on this Corolla? PM me if you prefer.

I'm happy to take a look at what's needed and give you an idea of what it'd cost mate.

I'll PM you my number.

I've just had a look through the invoices for this job for anyone that's interested.

Paint and consumables has cost about £300, so that's the epoxy top coat, thinners consumables and that.

The labour we initially quoted for was about 25 hours.

Now obviously we've chewed well into that in hours but to be honest it's not about the cash as much as doing the job right.

The owner had blown in the door shuts but because we risked reaction or a bit of a wank finish with the hard edge you'd get from not redoing them, we just sorted it and did them with the shell.

We expected some shrinkage and filler reactions on the wheel arches and years of old repair didn't disappoint there, but we've sucked the time up due to the owner circumstances.

The paint we chucked on at 3bar and that's kept the flatting and polishing down as we got a good finish out the gun, the doors we did at 2bar but they needed a bit more polishing out as the paint goes on with a bit of orange peel like that.

The problem is at 3bar it's hard to feed the gun and your breathing gear at the same time 😂, but you adapt and overcome don't you?

Things are looking a bit crowded in the workshop again.

Dave G has been getting a bit of hassle about his Escort van, so we decided last night we'll ship it inside and tuck it against my long term VW T3 Caravelle, so at least he can slowly tackle the engine, and brake rebuild and get it MOT'd so we can chuck it back outside without getting too much grief from the landlord.

We've moved some bits of Porsche into the container for now, as that keeps it out of mine and his way, and had a tidy up around the back of the unit because it was getting a bit messy.

My floor pan for my beetle is now in the back of my T4, where it will stay until I'm ready to get back to it.

What does all this mean for the Corolla?, well we need the space it's in.  Dave G is going down to mop it tonight.

My phone battery was quite flat last night so I didn't get any pictures, but it's back in one piece and we drove it around the yard last night while shunting vehicles about.

Hopefully the next picture update will be it finished and I can move onto getting my T4 ready for its MOT, replacing the steering rack, doing a spot of welding, and addressing a minor oil leak that's annoying me near the oil filter.
