Inter-county collection thread...hot Lexus action

A very straight forward collection by any standard...apart from neither the means of transport or the collected vehicle having functional air con, but hey, first world problems, eh?!

Just returned on the fuel kindly left in the tank...more to follow post refreshments.

The result of my travels?

I know what I said on the for sale thread at the time but half a can of Magners later and I couldn’t control myself.

I mean, come on, an old school, actual coloured V8 Lexus for a monkey?

Compared to the W140 MB, this is so much smoother and generally more refined. I can see now what all the fuss was about when they were launched.

Had a hour or two free this afternoon so I went and retrieved this from the village hall car park where I’d dumped it on Tuesday night.

Sorry to disappoint everyone but the ginger light units in the boot are spare bumper mounted ones so it’ll be keeping the clear indicators for the minute at least.

Gave it a wash though...

Initial jobs to investigate.....

Aircon not working....really could do with sorting as there’s a lot of glass in there and it was uncomfortably warm in there today.

Bonnet strut(s) are deceased...bonnet lowers slowly onto your head (I was warned but forgot...won’t forget again!)

Pixels in radio display are missing...tadts.

That’s about it, really....it’ll need a couple of tyres on the front soon but they’re old school 16s so cheap enough, oh yes, and the service book is full so need to source another one (or more likely stick a new page in the back)

If I remember correctly from my brief ownership of a similar aged LS400...

Those units you think are indicators are actually sidelights. The indicators are the orange ones down in the bumper.

The first photo of Mason I could find:

They're all like that. This one wasn't modified (apart from the exhaust :D )

Put me down on the dibs list too, wherever I end up on it at this point.

Since I havent been able to drive my Celsior without so called "springs" more ore less entirely missing from the car yet it would be great to have a chance and test drive this example. Being more comfortable/refined than a W140 is quite the statement!?

If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, you’re more than welcome to take it for a run ?

Nice one! I approve, obviously.

It appears that I took photos of this very car at an Ipswich toy fair in 2016:

Don't know who owned it at that time, but it was certainly a smart looking thing back then.

I haven't seen many with the clear bumper indicators:

The latter was mine that went onto become a bit of a forum bike.
