It's all happening.

I've been using the CR-V loads up and down the motorway and it's not misbehaved at all. Done nearly a thousand miles since the garage looked at it so it's definitely fixed. I feel bad for doubting them! I've been keeping an eye on the level of the (new) coolant and it's become decidedly rusty looking so I think the rad must have been full of crap. Planning to change it again and maybe give it a good flush. I now no longer want to get rid of it, actually it's weirdly grown on me recently - I never particularly liked it but the longer I own it the fonder I become. I've even managed to see more than 30 MPG from it by driving slowly, which I'm enjoying.

Mrs M. took the Mazda for an MOT today. It failed on engine management light and a blown bulb or two. They fixed the lot (well, ran diagnostics - Knock sensor - which reset the light) and issued the MOT for less than £100 which is a result in my eyes for a £600 motor. Advisories look like nothing to me.

Caddy's booked in to another garage for some TLC to the brakes and then I really need to sell it. Ought to start tidying it up...

Haven't used the MG. Weather's been crap and I've been carting bikes and tools and shit about.

I also went and had a look at something else last weekend. Exciting stuff!

A week's shopping and a large and irresponsible impulse purchase from the middle of lidl. I couldn't see where I was going but luckily I made it.

Bloody hell, it's March since I took the CB250's carb off. All spring and summer it was MOT'd, taxed and insured, but in bits. Now it's autumn and no longer remotely road legal I've finally decided to do something about it. I wonder if I'll be able to put it back together again.

Anyway, I did a good thing this evening, fingers crossed the rest of the job is also plain sailing.

No progress with the two wheeled Honda. But a result with the blue one.

Found what I can only assume is the "missing" needle jet! It was stuck in place but pushed out OK. There's a new one in the rebuild kit.

Accelerator pump was sticky when I pulled it out and had obvious corrosion on the shaft... polished up for good measure.

Right. I'm taking this really slowly, partly because I'm currently isolating, in a covid haze, and got nothing better to do... and partly because the reason I've put it off for so long is I want be methodical and make a decent job of the rebuild.

I've been going through the advice in the HBOL and trying to follow it step by step, but first I have to understand exactly what it means. I'm getting there.

So, stupid* question time: Is the "float valve" and the "needle valve" the same thing? And if not, where's the float valve?

No. The float valve allows petrol into the reservoir which has a float in it, which closes a valve to stop it over filling.

OK... but the bit that does that is what the HBOL refers to as the needle valve.

Honda carb still separated from bike. Oh well. Caddy got another MOT, albeit with a pretty huge list of minor advisories.

Bye bye Caddy, you have been a faithful servant. Thanks to top shiter @Zelandeth for a super easy sale - I hope you enjoy the van and that it meets your expectations.

Actually it feels good having 1 fewer cars. And as an added bonus I've got that "new car" feeling doubly with the Polo on the fleet and a plan to change guardianship of the CR-V from Mrs M to me. Weird that I'm excited about taking over responsibility for a car that I've owned  for nearly 4 years.
