Mill House Garage, New Buckenham, I would NOT recommend them for a fair MOT :-(

Odd isn't it. I've used them for the past 14 years and never had an issue.

I don't have a Landover or a Saab lol.

I guess it depends on what we all see as fair, thorough or over the top.

DFTR Automotive in Dudley. Father and son business. Will take on just about anything

although they have a penchant for Mazda's. Excellent service and good value. They know

Dollywobbler quite well.

They don't do MoT's so I go to Breakwell Testing in Brierley Hill. Sympathetic with chod classics but

won't let crap pass. Owner drives mostly 60's and 70's stuff, mostly Yank. His daily at the

moment is a 1960 ish Chevvy Impala in well used condition.

Jesmonds Garage in Finchingfield Essex. Proper family run place. Watch your MOT being done via CCTV whilst you sit enjoying a coffee in their nice waiting area.

Or go to one of the tea rooms in the middle of the village, one of the prettiest in the country for breakfast/lunch.

If repairs going to take all day, they have a number of courtesy cars available, just replace the fuel you've used. Fiat 500's, so very frugal.

Will be sad I will no longer be able to use them Anyone know of a good garage/mechanic in the Alicante region of Spain?

Leigh MoT at 1000 London Road, Leigh on Sea is the place we generally use for MoTs. Very fair especially with the old stuff and has never tried it on for work not required. He does basic servicing and repairs but it’s only a small place so won’t touch anything more involved.

Theres a very cheap tyre place next door too (and plenty of shite at the many used car dealerships along there).

I take my cars to Rydal Garage near York. As far as I know they used to be a Perodua dealer, but now they’ll work on anything, and nearly always have lots of interesting older stuff in for work. Super friendly and I’ve always been happy with what they charge. I’d absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area

I'd second that - I used them when living nearby in Wheldrake.

Also a fan of Wills & Ellis - friendly, honest and have a couple of lovely Labradors :)

BT Gordons in Oxted, Surrey for MOT, servicing snd more involved work.
Their sister garage Accelerated Motor Repairs just down the road in Edenbridge, Kent, too.
I’ve also used a Volvo specialist, Charlwood Automotive, near Horley/Gatwick Airport.

Oh, and Surrey Jag Centre in Redhill.
All amazing service, fair prices and very sensible about what’s really needed for older cars.

Well that's not good, no recommendations.

We just do MoTs and a few shitters have been here..

DaveDorson has been (where is he now) ,his dad comes here from another county.MrScruff has been here from a different county, his mate Rob still comes here. Partridges wife brings their Peugeots here from another county. Captain Slow comes here from a different town. Alcyone Corporation used to come here but fell out with the garage next door . A number of Practical classics writers come here (their workshop is in the same yard). JJ from Modern Classics comes here. Martin from LRO brings most of their Land Rovers here. Both recommended by Matt from Practicals. Yes my workshop is often in a "thumbs up, I've got an MoT pass"  type of photo in these magazines. Alcyone often phones up for a quote in a CCW article he is writing.

We do have a lot of trade customers, repair garages and car sales and like I say just MoTs we are not interested in doing repairs. So if you are in or around the Stamford area and need an MoT :

Barnack Test Centre.

Modurdy Ffrydlas Garage, Bethesda, North Wales. I've used them for the past year or so for our aging minibuses at work (06 plate Movano and 56 plate LDV) and always found them fair and reliable. I took my BX there for an MOT this week which it passed with no advisories. . When I went to pick the car up the receptionist told me that when the tester had seen the booking he'd commented that a BX was a proper eighties car and that he'd look forward to doing it.
