Ghosty
The Prelude's plates are knackered - the front one has been giffered to death and will fail an MOT, and the rear is faded, and starting to show signs it might delaminate. Finally gives me an excuse to buy some plates from Retroplates - he was able to make up the proof within two hours, and I've OK'd them, so I'll hopefully get those next week. Ghosty
I last walked along this road in 2018, to collect an R8 I got from Bramz. I think he's moved since. A white AX pulled out of the Waitrose car park as I was walking and headed this way. I call that a good omen. loserone, Six-cylinder and LightBulbFun
Ghosty
Google's walking directions don't care that there's no pavement and poor footing. The kerbside is a heavily worn desire path. Thanks, Maps. Thaps. Here we are, anyway. Six-cylinder, DoctorRetro and Coprolalia

Ghosty
It's home and I'm in the pub. Most eventful thing on the way home was managing to get the attention of a middle aged couple in a Kia Venga with a flat tyre on the elevated section of the M6, just before a junction. They got off the main motorway so I saved a fuckton of danger and pissing about for a lot of people there - fuck smart motorways. rusty998, Coprolalia, Spottedlaurel and 9 others 11

Ghosty
Writeup time. A while ago my mum's Bini had the timing chain replaced as it'd eaten the guides. It's not been used much over the pandemic, and starting it for the first time recently (it'd been blocked in until I got rid of the Ignis) revealed that it had a death rattle, meaning either the timing chain guides got into the sump, or it's piston slapping. (Or my dad buggered it up). We duly sent it to WBAC as their initial offer was £5300 which came down to 5k on inspection. 5k is what auto R56s seem to go for in used car dealers - and we got it for 6k almost five years ago, so I think we've done well there. Mum went off to look at a spaceship Civic, then on her way home told me to find her an older Civic instead. She wanted aircon ideally but that's hit and miss. Before she'd even got home I'd found this one on eBay and Gumtree, and we all just agreed - 'get it'. Rang up the dealer - curiously, an LHD specialist, and told them I was being sent down for it - they couldn't have been more helpful, they said they'd had a lot of emails about it, but 'if you're coming that far you must be serious' and agreed to hold it until the next day for us. Sure enough, I hopped on the train and got down there - the bloke working there was a lovely chap, into his Rovers - he showed me a 39k Rover 25 they had in inventory - he'd bought it to reshell his rally car not realising it had a sunroof. Lovely little thing, it was like new. Anyway I'm presented with a sun-bleached, dusty Civic - but inside is like new, and it drove like new too. After a test drive and a good chat about cars in general, set off home, and got back without a hitch. The roof is, well, sun-bleached: and the lacquer's bloomed on the bonnet, the rest of the paint is rather flat too. It's going to be sent off to be (partially?) resprayed - it's worth it as it's a one owner car that's completely rust free. There's a bit of a list of jobs forming: full service exhaust backbox, the hairy stuff is coming out tyres repaint wiper arms partial respray underseal You get the idea. It's an absolutely lovely car and another one that's going to be sticking with us for a long time. This is what I wanted that other silver Civic to be like. Gave it a clean today: and it's looking rather well. Six-cylinder, LightBulbFun, stripped fred and 6 others
High Jetter
You're not the first to be complimentary about the LHD place, though I hadn't heard anything of them for a while. Civic looks a good 'un, though there is a weird ghostly image on a window.
Ghosty
Grey Civic has been booked in for paint. My red one's been booked in for welding and paint, to sort the rear arches out. I got some post: I've said it before and I'll say it again, Retroplates are fantastic. EightMegs, Coprolalia, LightBulbFun and 8 others
