Cento16v
They're so responsive to drive, never had an R50 until now, my R56 felt a lot more modern, this feels more like driving the 924, in a good way, it's very responsive, did about 20 miles in it today to get some petrol and it's great! Cento16v
Well, now lockdown is over and we're back at work, I've added 3000 miles to the above picture in 3 weeks! And its not batted an eyelid at it, no oil used, no issues, it just works. Its great having a car you can rely on to sit for 3 months, then just drive it and it doesn't complain. Been getting 650 miles to a tank as well, which is a genuine, calculated 43 MPG. It can't be sniffed at for a big petrol auto, it does help that it sits at 2600ish RPM at an 80 MPH cruise. Will treat it to a wash at the weekend and get rid of some of the bugs I've acquired!  spartacus
Cento16v
S60 updates. Well I spent an hour rewiring a Instrument Pack for the sake of some shiny tings and LEDs ?? It does look nice though so all is forgiven, even the burn on my thumb which means the fingerprint reader on my phone doesn't recognise me anymore. Also ordered some more wheels, as as lovely as the ones I've put on it are, they're not Volvo ones and that upsets me more than it should, so they can be winter wheels and ill leave the Crossclimates on them, and the new Capella 18's will be summer wheels, 4 Goodyear Eagle F1s ordered in 235 40 18 ready to fit once they're here ? Cento16v
New Wheel Day! They definitely fill the arches better been an inch bigger and and inch wider, rare wheels too, Volvo Capella's. New headlights turn up tommorow, some 8 inch front door speakers and 6 inch long throw woofers for the rear doors should be turning up this week as well. Just need bumpers spraying still for me to be 100% happy with it! Parky, Lacquer Peel, Kringle and 2 others
Cento16v
New headlights day at last! 2 brand new headlights for less than 400 quid! Can't argue with that! Cost another 65 for all new bulbs as well though! Amazing the difference in clearness in the lenses compared to the 15 year old ones on the car, they look quite clean after being polished up, but next to these they look opaque! Cento16v
Well, I should be able to see at night for the next 15 years now hopefully! its amazing how much difference new headlights make to a cars appearance! New speakers fitted also as the osf door one stopped making any sort of correct noise. Flat4, theshadow, outlaw118 and 2 others
Cento16v
I snowfoamed all my carpets and mats of the S60 at the weekend as I had the osf seat out to replace the amplifier with a C70 one so took the other seat out and then thought, well, I've got this far ? All carpets out, seats out, console out. Dynamatted all floor under sound deadening, vac'd everything, glistened all seats and left them in garage, snowfoamed then wet vac'd all mats, boot carpets and actual carpets. It took 3 days for the carpets to dry! Smells amazing inside though now, and the beige mats and carpets came up like new! Also I think its looking pretty good outside now as well for an old bus ? outlaw118, spartacus, theshadow and 3 others

Cento16v
Well we have unexpected fleet changes! A 165 mile each way collection happened today! Bini loaded up with supplies for a 6:30 start! The service were happily lovely and empty when I popped in to investigate why the exhaust helpfully started blowing 90 miles into the outbound trip! Couldn't see what happened but it sounded like the back box fell off! It hadn't and is still there but its definitely noisier! New arrival picked up and fuelled up for the journey back! It came up for sale on here and I've never had a diesel, a 4x4 or a 7 seater so it ticks a few boxes 🙂 Just got home, its been a long day! Now the work begins! Well not right now, as its sunny, so it's beer time in the garden 😂 dome, theshadow and privatewire
Cento16v
So new arrival did what Land Rovers do and stopped charging its battery about 3 weeks ago. 70 miles from home 😂 So one big yellow taxi later it got taken to my friends garage. Unfortunately my friend is very busy right now so I limped it home where it sat feeling sorry for itself until today. Mainly due to needing to order a locking tool for the viscous fan as it was seized solid. Big drift didn't work, big hammer on the 36mm spanner didn't work, brute force eventually did, I bent the special tool though 😂 All back together with a new battery as well, as the negative cable must have been loose for a while on the battery, it had worn away the post! Proper Denso Land Rover alternator fitted and the biggest battery on Tayna that fits is in there so should be good for 70000 miles or so hopefully! 210712 Miles and counting! Cento16v
New steering rack fitted to the S60 today, feels like a new car! Lovely and light at parking speeds, weights up lovely the faster you go. MOT on Thursday I think, just a formality as its basically a new car 😂 Will need the tracking doing now again!) So will get that done at the same time. Then looks like its going if I can't get storage for it 😔  Lacquer Peel and theshadow
sutty2006
I’ll have to admit, you were lucky with that alternator. Usually they end up setting fire to themselves when the alternators fail. I’d be buying a lottery ticket 🤪  volvo looks great too. Cento16v

Cento16v
S60 MOT passed with flying colours, as it should with the money its had spent on it! Just tracking which will be done next week then have to weigh up if its worth storing it and the costs of that, or selling it, which makes me sad 😔 Discovery is being picked up, and is off to a fellow shiter on Saturday, so I can then go bring my Dads 3008 down and will have an all Modern French drive for a while 🙄 I don't like modern cars at all as an ownership prospect, but to be fair, our 308 has been superb, its very reliable, great on fuel, and comfortable. The 3008 is much better to drive, but slower, as it has the same engine as our 308 in a bigger body, handling and ride are on a different level in the 3008 as well, it may be taller, but it certainly flows better down a b road, and rides very well. I bet if they had done a GTI 3008 it would have been a cracker. I can take the corners over the moors at nearly the same speed as in my S60, which is on Goodyear Eagle F1s, Volvo Lesjofors Polestar springs and brand new dampers. The french are great when they put their mind to it! privatewire
FakeConcern
I've just taken the time to read through this thread after you commented on my T5 thread and it was well worth it! Some great cars in there, I like the look of the earlier Binis (not the new bloated ones) and I'm a French car and Volvo fan as well! Also interesting mods and fettling on several of them. The S60 looks lovely, I had a V70 T5 of that generation and loved it, they are a bit stealth as no one expects a staid middle England favourite to go like stink and even the big V70 handled well. Shame you have to get rid of it. Cento16v
Cento16v
Yeah I'm not happy about it but there doesn't seem to be a way round it that makes sense 😔 My R56 Cooper S was a cracker, shame they can't build the engines right! Cento16v
New arrival; Shaguar baby yeah! 2012 XFS Portfolio, 8 Speed Auto, 275ps 600nm Torque. Its a lovely thing, deceptively quick, VERY quiet, and the best sound system I've had in a car, 1200w Bowers and Wilkins 17 speaker audio 😳 Just need to get rid of the 308 now and we should be reet. Got scamera van'd on the way to pick it up as well I think 😶 Hope its 3 Points or SAC and not more, I've no idea how fast I was going 😬 Not very Autoshite I'm afraid but I hope I'm still welcome 🤔 Tickman, The Moog, angle and 5 others 7
Cento16v
The Jag is proving to be very lovely. Its deceptively quick, about same power as the Volvo was, but double the torque and a much quicker shifting 8 speed autobox means it piles on speed without you really noticing. I've started using the speed limiter as it will get me in trouble if I don't, its so quiet and refined, 110 feels like 60 in the Volvo. And its so very very shiny. Averaging 35.2 MPG in the 200Â or so miles since I've had it, all local journeys which is better than I expected tbh as I've not been hanging about. spartacus, theshadow, Broadsword and 1 other
Cento16v
So, this is still very much a novelty. Big, very torquey V6 twin turbo + icy roads = Sideways shenanigans. Still on its original tank of fuel after 550 miles! This is a novelty for me on non long journeys! Sound system remains emphatically the best I've heard SQ wise, Including the awesome S60 uprated one and The Mark Levington LS460 one, it does take it out of the battery though! My dad is somehow well enough to think about driving again after a unheard of turn around after his operation. Thankfully we haven't sold our 308 yet, however, helpfully the 3008 has developed water ingress into the passenger footwell. This isnt a know concern on 2014 vehicles, I think the nsf door membrane may be leaking as the door has no drains under it, no sunroof, seals are all fitted and intact, and the windscreen is watertight. Still, will give me something to do i suppose 🤔

Cento16v
Weird one today. Water leak into the passenger front footwell of the 3008. Quite a lot of water as well. So I pulled the door trim and a pillar trim off and got busy with the hosepipe. Ah, that'll be why then. Water was pouring through there at a steady old pace. I took the entire foam panel off as it was ripped, someones clearly been in there before! The water drips down the inside of the door, hits the wiring loom and then cones through where it was ripped. Well, I've ordered a new foam for it (75! QUID) but made a quick fix with a plastic sheet on the inside of the door and judicious use of everybody's favourite thing for now and its watertight so all is well again. theshadow, spartacus and stripped fred

Cento16v
Turns out 240 miles is a long way to drive a moldy old Citroen with no suspension travel 😂 But, its home now, long road ahead, but it will be fun I'm sure!
