Spent some time de minging this with my new pressure washer. Boot carpet will get cleaner as it was still pulling dirty water out but I was worried about how much water I’d put in. Will give it time to dry out and give It another going over. Slowly getting there!

  • Robson3022 changed the title to Robson3022 Fleet Fettling. Lowered 4x4 content yo!!!

Urgh what have I done.

A6 Allroad 2.5 diesel stanced yo*

Well it has an air bag issue (don’t they all) so it’s on the bottom. Has a pretty substantial mystery oil leak. Is damp inside from somewhere and the breaks don’t. Ah yes and it is sans MOT.

I have hopefully (read stupidly) bought this to try and tidy and use if I sell the Elgrand. The white one went this week that means the silver one could go at any moment.

I’m trying to do a bit more on my cars so why not by one with complex suspension and the likes.

Drives well in Australia.

PS if some other nutter wants to try and fix it as always everything is for sale and this would be cheap cheap!!

All you need is a long piece of clear pipe and a jar, piece of piss that way, I've got an easy bleed but never use it sometimes kiss works best.

Have to say, I have found this is the best way assuming you have an assistant.

Nope no assistant required as long as the open end of the clear pipe is under brake fluid then air can't get back up the pipe,   I always make sure the pipe is higher that the bleed nipple by a good 10 or so inches too and you can pump a a few times then get out and view when any bubbles stop.

Yeah still haven’t tried this. Currently enjoying driving it with much brake pedal travel!!!

Don't those Audi's have an ECU or multi plug in the boot that gets wet and causes all these suspension issues?

Get it over on the 'Modernshite' section, I'm sure a regular over there will know.

It is wet in the boot!!!! I’ve just ordered a rebuild kit for the pump though as it doesn’t sound healthy and at £25 if it doesn’t solve the problem I’m not too worried. Will have a check though!

RE your allroad, both bags and pumps can give trouble, if there is a bag leak the pump runs more, overheats etc.

Do you hear it trying to pump when you ask it to go up?

Even with a leak they will normally get up to height eventually, you might need to have a few goes of pump till it stops > ignition on/off > pump again.

If you can get it up you can just check the bags for leaks with soapy water. Rears and fronts are paired so if one is leaking it will drop the other side to match.

If it won't go up try rebuilding the pump with this kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161120430069 easy as pie, the guy has some YouTube videos. You can do it without taking the pump off the car.

If you have bag leaks just get the cheapest China specials off eBay for £50 a corner, seems like they fail about every 2 years no matter how much you spend on bags.

This is the plan!!! I’ve found the guy who makes those and he’s mega helpful. Got a pump rebuild kit ordered so will go from there. For £25 it doesn’t really matter!

  • 1 month later...

Well where are we at on the merry go round.

Audi A6 was sold broken. I even made a little profit on it.

Volvo XC70 was used for a short while but is now surplus to requirements.

Silver elgrand flew an MOT and continues to be ace.

however I may have it’s replacement on the way up courtesy of @worldofceri

place bets now.....

  • Robson3022 changed the title to Robson3022 In out in our shake it all about!

Forgot to update this so we all know by now the correct number of Elgrands is 2. Well the silver one went the same day that this 3.5 v6 beast arrived E3AFE0FE-CFC4-4849-91DB-9DF96CB767E4.thumb.jpeg.93dbb1c8221df72e295b0030330b03ca.jpeg

it was pressed into service as top shit shifter, camper and generally pretty good at everything except sipping fuel vehicle.

In the mean time @NorthernMonkeydropped this fine steed off in exchange for the Sharan with a dicky clutch and no brakes that I’d agreed to sell for someone at work.  After me being a berk and flattening the battery of the Sharan NM fettled it and got down the road.

I insured it and gave it to my bro to use for a week or so with the intention of using it for a while to stop having to pay for fuel in the elgrand. I’ve had it about 3 weeks and it does going down the road not using fuel very well. What it doesn’t do well is open with the remote meaning I can’t get in the boot! It was working fine so I just need a fob battery. It’s days are numbered at Shotley Bridge with its replacement coming next week sometime and a swap for something a little different.

The elgrand has been doing duties well and we’ve been away in it a couple of times. What a difference the awning makes as well it’s ideal! 2FFF5DF2-7C94-4A36-96B3-610C78F8FC82.thumb.jpeg.46e2fe424323a96e416a346ab1ec6bad.jpegCFE50238-0DE9-4D5C-8291-237B04CE1953.thumb.jpeg.5a4ec3048b42587fd8ade4ded4f3770f.jpeg

However I was getting a little nervous that I appeared to only have one Elgrand. So I took out my elgrand light and put it to the sky for the UKs premier Nissan Elgrand transporter........314E87AC-1BA2-44A8-B867-E53F7D7C7CF1.thumb.jpeg.ddc33e94366a897bca83c7faada95459.jpeg

@worldofceri answered the call. Another one! This is a Ryder autotec less miles, twin sunroofs, twin electric doors a slightly nicer place to sit. I actually prefer the look of the older one to be fair but this has electric curtains man. Who doesn’t want electric curtains! It was bought sans MOT so I chucked it at Andy who declared it needed a steering uj, 2 tyres and the fog light fettling. I’ll take that. So equilibrium has been restored.....or has it, a deal has been struck with elgrand number 1 for a “runaround” 🤦🏻Stay tuned for next weeks episode of WTF am I doing.

Oddly enough I was on the top end of the M6 today and got overtaken by an R reg Elgrand. (Or at least I think it was.) Made me think of you, naturally.

I feel like between you, me Neil and Andy we could have some sort of underground Elgrand importers emporium going.

Someone has just put on one of the Facebook pages anyone selling an Elgrand in the Tyne and Wear area 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’ve sent him a message.....

Hmm that seems like the sale of the century. Just scoping out these at the mo. Never bought a private plate mind so not sure if they are a legit company or if that is in fact the cost.
