Early start on a collection thread... To build excitement*!

Ladies and Gents.

Yes, it's me. The man who pops up rarely, solely to irritate folk by spouting nonsense about his Daewoo Leganza, then disappears as quick as he arrived. Like Coronavirus, but with added Daewoo class*.

I am here with news. I have, within the last 3 hours, made an irreversible purchase. I'm £300 lighter already on a car that I have not seen. This is typical behaviour - heart before head! Yet, the heart doth not yearn for what hearts normally do. The car in question has probably never had a look of desire cast in its direction since the day it was built. I suspect the first owner probably signed on the line in a dealership (if you can call it a dealership) with a very matter-of-fact look on his face and not one glint in his (probably) deteriorating eye. Yet still, I am intrigued. I am willing to pay £300 just to find out how it stands up against my now beloved Leganza.

I'm currently researching exactly how I'm going to get from Cornwall to Hampshire without infecting anyone, and preferably without becoming infected myself! I have until Wednesday...

Unless its absolutely essential then I'd suggest you won't be getting it before Weds, chips pissed and all that :)

I have* the number of a man who is still working delivering vehicles as he can't work from home and is transport. Very reasonable and reliable.

Actually the number is at home, but I can get it from a friend if anyone cannot wait for new chod.

I know gents, I can see the storage bill adding up!

I'm trying to ascertain how essential I actually am. I have a modern car up the spout, meaning my wife (who is a teacher) is using my Leganza for work. I manage a local bus operator and need to start work before the first bus runs, because it's my job to make sure the first bus runs! I have a loaned company car, but that has a time limit, hence a rash purchase of chod!

Is it another Daewoo?  The dealership comment makes me think it might be.  Nexia / Espero?

Oh come on... you've got to drag this out longer than that ;) haha! Close, but no cigar!

OK, this was supposed to be kicking off today, but work had other plans. Buses don't drive themselves. Who knew??

However, we have rescheduled for Tuesday for a proper epic adventure! Something really special up to London(ish), some public transport action and then the prize chod for the homeward journey!

Stay tuned folks!

Oh, it gets better than that. This is a Grade 4 BCA auctions purchase, unseen and 100% gamble territory, with exceptionally poor odds I will come out of this well, be that as a result of the car or, if I get home, the wife.

I ran it through How Many Left and it's down to 30 units or so. That was it. Had to have it.

MOT history suggests it had two to three years off the road, followed by 10 months of use up until now...

So... place your bets gentlemen! Will the 2001 double decker get me to London? Will the 1999 BCA purchase get me home...?

It's the night before the big day. 2015hrs, Kernow time.

I'm 90% ready for bed, sat on the bog pondering what luck, if any, tomorrow will bring. I've bought a We Buy Any Car motor at auction unseen. I've got pre-regret mixed with a little hope. Maybe it's only a grade 4 because of what it is, rather than the condition it's in.  Don't be ridiculous. That's far too hopeful!

I'm talking to myself now: a sign that it's definitely time to hit the sack!

Alarm clock set for 0200. Sandwiches made. Invoice and payment receipt printed. First driving seat expecting my arse around 0300, in Truro.

Wish me luck, Gentlemen.

Good luck and chodspeed sir.

On my break in work but I'm sure it will go OK, most car faults on modern cars in my experience are down to a crappy battery so as long as that's OK you're in with a great chance.

You’re taking that to London?

I used to think it risky enough taking knackered old Tridents and Solos just up the road to a certain Devon Airfield.

Chodspeed old boy!

Richie: Where have you been?

Eddie: I've been to a car swapping party.

Richie: A car swapping party.

Eddie: Yeah, it's great. All the men stand round in a circle and throw

their wives in the middle. Then you pick the one you want, and

she escorts you to your car.

Richie: Eddie, you're not married.

Eddie: I know, that's why I came home on the bus. It's parked outside.

Typical Volvo - not that quick off the mark, but plodded it's way without a single hiccup all the way there. Unlike a Trident, which would have thrashed itself, shot a con rod through the block, pierced the fuel filter and sent a fireball down the bus!

That’s ok then. Interesting that it needs a sniff of easy start to get going, I guess that’s why it’s been flogged to Ensign?

I don't think that's esoteric enough for @shedinagarden
