Tickman
Currently fucking about attempting to do the timing belt on an F reg Peugeot 205 belonging to @stereotype basically had a bit of a mare so need to find tdc on cylinder 1. twosmoke300
At the front of the engine on the flywheel end . 8mm hole . Be aware that this will be no1 and 4 tdc not no1 tdc firing . So you may need to turn it over twice to get it right . Oh and no1 is flywheel end Tickman and cobblers
Tickman
I cannot find this hole! Is it where the crank position sensor is fitted? That is the only thing I can find!

That is the only thing I can find! its been 15 years since I did one, but it's not the crank sensor hole. Further inboard and lower IIRC

Tickman
My 10mm drill bit is too long for locking the cam so making a pin it is. loserone, Jim Bell and LightBulbFun
ruffgeezer
Sorry, I thought I'd replied earlier with a shit pic, but I hadn't. This is far clearer than my effort. Crank sensor hole is lower and further forward in this example. Tickman
Tickman
Thanks to @ruffgeezer I found the hole, made up a little locking pin and reassembled. I've just done the first fire after winding the engine over a couple of time and checking the pins went back in. Now to put the covers and stuff back together and fill with water for a flush! ruffgeezer
They're a bastard when the hole is a bit corroded, I usually end up with a slightly undersized pin. Tickman
