Went out looking for that exact spec, SX got the rev counter and electric windows iirc but I didn't want PAS at the time. Only downer on mine was it was a 5 door and the 3 door like yours was always a better looking car. Bit jealous, enjoy it! It's pretty cool, apart from the clattering from the rear that sounds like the whole rear beam is held on with cable ties! 😂 Grumblespeed

On these FIRE engines, the cam cover gasket needs a blob of RTV sealant in each corner where the camshaft passes through. This isn’t a bodge, it was how Fiat originally did it but so many I’ve seen leak because a new gasket is fitted without the RTV. TheDoctor
louiepj 885
Took me replacing the gasket twice before I found that out.

I still don't like the mk1 focus but these are improving with age, to my eyes! Dan302 and Cavcraft

Zelandeth 11513
Nice little addition to the fleet there. They were always cheerful little things to drive, probably one of the last what I'd call "real Fiats." I remember thinking that they looked like something from 30 years in the future when they were released. The design has really aged well. For me though if I had one it would absolutely have to be bright yellow. Tim_E, TheDoctor and Burnside
vulgalour 43743
That looks like a very Doctor-friendly purchase and it's a cracking colour. Tim_E
rainagain 2191
I had a 60S punto mk1, I loved it and it enjoyed a good thrashing. The only thing that let it down was the million turns lock to lock on the non pas steering.
Daviemck2006 904
My first fiat was a 55sx punto 3 door in white. I think it was P reg. It was a lovely wee car. Far better than the 52 plate 1.2ELX that came after it, which in turn was better than the 56 plate grande punto 1.4 active sport that came later again. I would have a mk1 55 or 60 SX again but wouldn't want any newer punto.Sent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk
neil1971 1164
Well bought, I had this one for seven years, used to be loads of them around Southend with two main Fiat dealers back then. The silly lever off rubber oil filler cap and fiddly to change rear bulbs were a pain but was great otherwise. Burnside, EssDeeWon, spartacus and 1 other
BeEP 2902
Agree with the points above; my 55SX was great fun but needed higher geared steering and was moved on when it failed the MOT due to rampant rot in the rear arches (well hidden until prodded!), New owner has seemingly got it back on the road and moved it on again (whether by proper repair or more lashings of underseal I'll never know). neil1971, spartacus and Burnside
Ben_O 1192
I got my father in law a punto a few years back for £70 Was one of the last mk1s and was the selecta model. Cracking fun with that gearbox but was eventually scrapped due to inner sill rot and no desire to fix it anymore. Was replaced by a 56 plate grande punto which is utter crap in comparison. Now sitting on my drive unused for the past year... I quite fancy an early one to buzz around in, especially in a bright colour like that!
TheDoctor 9392
Did a bit of a paint experiment on the Metro, using a Montana Graffiti paint, apparently some decent results can be achieved with it. Here's a Mazda 121 a friend did recently. Brings a whole new meaning to 'wrapping' a car - using leftover wrapping paper from Xmas to mask up. Jesus Christ that's a bright red. I guess at least its all red now. I reckon I could do the whole car for less than 80 quid. We'll see how the paint turns out once I flat and polish it.
