It's a slippery slope though, that's how I started with the Metro, was just going to vinyl the bonnet! tooSavvy

DoctorRetro
Also while underneath the car I've discovered a water leak (water pump maybe) and a gearbox oil leak (driveshaft point) AxWomble
DoctorRetro
Yeah, so I haven't fixed the gearbox yet, but why not just focus on the cosmetics eh? Did a bit more on the 309 too, no pics except for this. It's always just the flap wheel thankfully, but still bites AxWomble and Andyrew
DoctorRetro
Bit of a wash and spruce up of the AX. Did the steels silver. Can't use the alloys yet, two of the tyres have slow punctures, plus they're old. I'll give them a refurb and paint while I'm waiting. I must get some proper white paint for that front bumper too! I personally think it needs orange indicators... sutty2006, LightBulbFun, Dan302 and 4 others

sutty2006
Yep, rookie error I’m afraid. sure I had a car many years ago with lots of tiny specs in the passenger front window. Turned out previous owner had been letting grinding sparks hit the side of the car. There’s no getting rid of them!

Fumbler
Try seeing what a Brillopad and light pressure does to it. Only light pressure, mind, or there will be deep scratches aplenty. I've had good experience getting grinding sparks out of white paintwork by doing this.

Or, as someone on here suggested, Blu tac and soapy water to save money, as the Megulars clay kit I bought cost a whopping 26 quids from Halfrauds. Did a good job though,so I don't begrudge the expense.

Years ago a mate of mine was grinding next to a car with one of the rear windows wound half way down. By the time he finished the top half of the window was completely fucked, but the bottom half which had been in the door was fine. The effect was rather odd... gm
i remember an episode of wheeler dealers where Ed used a grinder, masking tape and a bit of scrap metal to deliberately etch the WD logo onto the window of whatever he was working on - quite clever and a bit shit at the same time skip to 3:
Zelandeth
This is an issue on several areas of my S123 - also white. Hasn't made it to the top of my list yet, but clay bar was probably going to be the first thing I'd try.
DoctorRetro
Didn't have anything in the house other than this... Just did a few test patches, seems effective.
