Shiteing with Covid-19

Avoid none essential travel. Avoid sociallising. Work from home. Little did I reallise it would take a public health crisis and a possible impending lockdown to stop me buying chod on bay.

My usual modus operandi is to cycle/ train it to my destination and drive back. This basically is none essential travel and is one reason I’m not going to bid on a 1994 escort ghia estate near Brighton. Am I right to take this stance?

Also it seems the death knell for classic car meets, at least for the near future. My latest practical classic mag landed last week and it’s full of enthusiasm and projects  for the upcoming restoration show (which now isn’t happening)

It certainly reinforces this forum as a place to share ideas and opinions and keep the flame alive!

More humble achievements here with some longbridge tin. I took the time to make some new gaskets for the (leaky) rear lights in my rover r8....

I was inspired by memories of @KruJoe doing similar to his, years earlier, using a travel mat; and I followed suit. Fuck you rain.

I wonder how the virus and impending economical downturn will actually affect shod prices. I can't imagine buying a crappy old car, or anything of higher value, would be anyone's priority right now. Except for the people on here of course.

I like that train of thought though. Hopefully if we're all still rocking in the free world come summer I'll be in a land of cheap chevette HS s cos the owner needs rid to pay off his toilet roll debts!!

I guess the new way to buy a car is

- bank transfer

- online V5 transfer/tax

- Current owner to leave the key behind the nearside rear wheel

- Collect under cover of darkness

Add 'very cheap 'cos sans MoT' to the list.  Just wondering if a lockdown might make this sort of thing a bit easier to pull off...

I'm off to Kent on Thursday to collect a bumper for a Rover 800. I figure the amount of people I'll be in contact with is minimal (The seller, and a couple of visits to motorway services?) Not bad for a full day out for 'non essential' travel. I should imagine it'll have to be this week, or not at all. Fingers crossed the Motorways will be quiet!

Exactly. Wonder. Lockdowns. Will they get flexibile about using cars with recently lapsed mots? Especially as getting one might get difficult. Never mind “driving to pre booked mot”  it’s “ cant get one officer”

Creativity in adversity - like it!

Me, I spent my day off in isolation fitting a new motor to the world's shonkiest electric car.

I've had 3 appointments cancelled this week, trying to get one for Friday but most places just ringing out

Minor irritation here, as the Weekly Minishite Tat Extravaganza has been cancelled for the foreseeable - Belfast City Council has shut down St George's Market, due to Covid-19 concerns.

Since space and financial constraints mean I kinda have to rely on uncovering battered 1970s scale models to get my budget AS kicks these days, this is a small but personally annoying poke in the ribs.

I read an article today that the car contains more bugs and bacteria than a toilet seat.  If the toilet seat used as a benchmark is in Watford Gap, then that car must be Mingin.

i get that the drivers seat cushion will have seen much natural fumigation in its time.

so next time you pick up some 15 year old 23 owner chod, think horsebox

Huddersfield to Kent for a bumper.... Kin ell, you're keen, does no one transport them nowadays or people can't be arsed to package them correctly?

Is Shitely Express not running at the moment?

I’m banking on people like this when I come to sell the OSF bumpers I have cluttering up the place.

I don’t want the liability of some arsehole courier destroying them.

Daughter is putting off buying a replacement car and will be MOTing it the old car this week. If it doesn't pass I and my lodger will be repairing it until it does

She is a hospital pharmacist, so will continue to be employed from her flat. I guess when it's all over and the economy is shot to fuck she'll be the only one buying. At a reduced price.
