Nottingham and further. Scrapyards and sightings.

Anyone know how to re-title an existing thread?  Might reuse this one for a while, for random spots and general photie stuff...

Yup - go on back to your very first post - select 'edit', then select 'use full editor', then edit the 'topic title' line to whatever best pleases you.

Some nice spots on here (albeit slightly lump-in-the-throat at the minty purple Metro getting flattened).

By the way - does anyone else ever have a practice run on doing a job on their car, by finding one in a scrapyard and replicating the task on a fucked car of the same model?

It worked for me yesterday lol.

Unfortunately, not many Xants in scrappies these days...

I made sure it was possible to get inertia reel belts in and out of a W123  without a massive ball-ache and trialled changing the wiper motor on a W116.

God, I miss that Merc yard - nothing stacked until it was picked clean.   It wasn't a cheap place but they didn't throw anything away.

It also taught me how and where they rot!

Ok. Gonna give this a whirl. I have a terrible feeling they’ll all be the wrong way up, but am posting from the middle of a forest in PL on my phone, so if they’re all ballixed I’ll sort it when home.

Here we go.

All of these before I even ventured inside the (very smoll) Motor Museum of Gdynia.  Which I found accidentally.  TBH, the inside photos are a bit boring.  Y'know, restored historical vehicles.  I will post them, but thought that the crap in the yard was WAY more exciting.  Sara (10) agreed with me.  "Chrissy, can we just stay out here and explore please?".

Bless her wee cottons.
