A few years ago, this Sierra, which was definitely ex-BT was still going in south London, sadly since scrapped:

It’s a crying shame about that Yella Sierra. Sharpens the argument for preserving the red bASe.

Maybe the manufacturers are missing a trick.
Make base spec fashionable. People often pay more for less. VW BAuhaus line. Steel wheels (look it up on google general public) No door furniture, a wire door pull. Rubber mats. Hemp seating. Manual everything. Ad £10k and make sure a cardashian is seen on Instagram buying one. CA$HBACK

Must have bee ‘de-fleeted’ before the makeover crew got to them.  I remember BT painting a load of stuff in ‘grey day’ polished primer colour ready for the BT Piper graphics.  By all accounts there were some proper shite paint jobs done.  A wipeover with panel wipe, a cursory flat, mask it up and blast it over, didn’t even need to switch the engine off, it wasn’t in the shop long enough.

Mind you, a slightly darker version of BT grey is all rage with some manufacturers.  Bloke down our street has a BINI in polished primer.  Park it next to a Black Car and a White Car and you find yourself banging your head to try and get the colour picture back.

I remember it was easy to spot the transits & Sherpas that had been resprayed grey as the inside of the doors were still yellow.

My dad had a 'Y' plate Sherpa, ex BT. Someone had painted a different colour yellow over the graphics, or where they had peeled the paint.

He hand painted the whole thing matt black...

WAJ926Y I think....

Thank you LightBulbFun, I am on an ipad which I cannot use and am a luddite.

Np Happy to help! but in that case

assuming the editor is not glitching out like it loves to do

then when you paste something in rich text

it should pop up with a button at the bottom of the editor asking if you want to paste in plain text (the underlined bit is the button your press if you want to paste in plain text)

(although im not sure if it would have helped you much in your above situation as it looks like you tried just copy the web page in its entirety rather then copy its URL)

It’s interesting to see old fleet vans that have been only lightly retouched to cover the logos. Royal Mail vans often show where the transfers have been removed but the paint has faded

My dad bought a 4 year old SD1 in 1985. It was a 2300 - late series 1, no PAS, no central locking, no fifth gear.

Replaced with a montego 1.6L - that had 5 gears and a sunroof. My dad shied away from top of the range models on the basis that " there was more to go wrong".

I remember that he had issues with the rover that saw it go  back to Lightfoot's in Runcorn several times. I tried to persude him into swapping it for a W reg V8 that was in the showroom - he did'nt want the extra fuel consumption.

Would a 2.3 8v four pot with four gears have almost comparable fuel consumption to the V8?

The 2300 was actually a 6 cylinder, but yes neither it or the 2600 were much if any better on fuel than a 3500. Only cured on the facelift by introducing the 2-0 O series and mighty 2400 VM dazzler.

I think that is a dad thing.

Like turning off light switches whilst tutting.

My dad would only buy run out models or something that had been around for at least a decade, "give them chance to iron out the faults. "

Then he'd buy a BL product and find all the faults were still there!
