Saabnut
Well it is a wet Sunday. No room for any more cars. No wantage for any more cars. So that is alright then. Had an SOS call from a friend, the council were coming around next week to remove his "abandoned" vehicles next week. These are parked on private ground (unadopted road" but with public access, so a bit of a grey area. Cars are SORNed and insured but obviously not MOTed as they have been sitting a while for ages. He has been keeping one as it has his private number on it, the others are "projects" but he is in his 70s now so unlikely anything will happen to them realistically. He was worried about the car with his number on so I agreed to take that one away and "store" it for a while. No idea why the council would think these are abandoned (have I mentioned my friend is a tad eccentric?) We borrowed some skids and pushed it sideways out to get it to the trailer. The 500 behind may well make its way over to mine eventually, but the gearbox is stuck in park so moving it is impossible. To buy some time with the council he is going to wash it and then remove the propshaft so we can move it. Back to the green one - I must get a new electric winch for the trailer, the one on has died from water ingress, so today it was a manual "come-along" with a 6ft pull, so three bites saw it on the trailer: It is now home, just have to shuffle a few cars around to make a space to park it. I have never been a Mercedes fan, but I quite like the camouflage look! strangeangel, Peter C, Aston Martin and 8 others

Talbot
3 hours ago, Saabnut said: the gearbox is stuck in park I am not familiar with this exact model, but the vast majority of Mercedes gearbox-stuck-in-park issues are down to the selector and the solenoid lockout. There is usually a way of getting the solenoid off/out of the way so that it can be moved to N and the car moved. My own Merc has had this interlock (foot must be on the brake to move out of park) removed, so I know it's possible. Alternatively, disconnect the in-car lever from the linkage on the autobox, and move that to N. The lockout is on the selector, not the box itself.
