We did get the 10 in the uk with the 1.3 engine but for some reason Renault uk badged some of the smaller engined 10s as 8s.

i did wonder how well the Granada sold in Australia with Ford already selling the locally made falcon there.

The Consul/Granada was never sold in Australia, it was anticipated but never was. It was same deal with the Hillman Avenger, many predicted it would be marketed here but in the end never made it to Aus.

The Granada never made it to Australia, I was very surprised to see it reviewed in an Aussie publication. If Cortina sales are anything to go off than it would have been unpopular, I don’t understand what they bothered with it when it was so similar to the Falcon.

I’m glad they went to the bother of taking the trade plates off for the photo shoot.

Thanks for letting me know,  the avenger was sold in the USA as the Plymouth cricket but didn’t sell very well.  I think someone in an episode of columbo crashes one when it would have been quite new.

Escort KPX 901J is still around in one form or another, 1600cc, 'tax due Feb 2021'.  Wonder what it looks like now.

Escort KWC 121J  tax was due April 1984.

No records for the rest.

Interesting that it features a Zodiac estate by Abbotts of Farnham considering they were private conversions I believe.

I assume they could be bought through ford dealers, though probably  as a special order.

"The Renault 14 success story"

Something I thought I would never hear. Interesting to see those statistics on sales.

Yes they were over-optimistic about sales figures.

I've been busy scanning some more UK-based stuff recently. It's annoying as all of my Autocar issues have missing pages, as well as my pain-in-the-arse scanner playing up on me.

Anyhow, here's an ADO 16 advert:

My dad used to live near Kingston back in the late 70's/early 80's & had a 2002 just like this one in dark blue, however I believe his was an automatic & possibly had the square rearlights.
