The Honda may live ? - Cookie's adventures in shiteing

The Disco of Doom, went for MOT today.

It only bloody passed. Did pick up a nail in a tyre on the way to the test station.

Not that happy with the non tyre related advisories, especially the steering rack gaiter. They charged me a lot for a new steering rack and didn't put the gaiter on correctly!

52.50 for a MOT and 164 quid for a new Pirelli Scorpio Zero, so it matched the other rear.

I did ask the garage to sort the advisories, before it goes up for sale, but they are booking two months in advance !!!

Just going to sell it as is.

So who has got 3k and a massive pair of bollocks?

That's good to get a pass but shit that an advisory is for an oil leak that has been caused by a specialist JLR garage after fitting a new sump...

And the gaiter for the steering rack they fitted.

Is there anything that actually went as it should.. I know shit happens but isn't that a problem now with nearly everything that's been done :(

Shit does happen. Yes a problem with nearly everything they did.

Sadly, with all major work done and some minor niggles left (,some, a hangover from the major work), I've lost motivation with it.

Not helped by the 2 month wait to get it into my usual garage.

She can be sold as is. Someone else can sort the niggles.

Mrs wont be working any time soon due to ill health, so she has no need for it and no faith in it anyway.

Even Mrs Cookie has admitted, she should have had another Honda.

Well, at least you can say you've scratched the LR3 itch. Or shall we call it more of a scab. Lol 😆

Disco is now for sale on AS. Dont expect to sell it here, but feel honour bound to offer it at a shitters discount.

Also for sale in Disco 3 owners group on FB and on Marketplace.

I'm expecting 'Last Price' and 'Swap for bmx and broken PlayStation mssgs'.

To be fair, I don't mind the Last Price messages.

Live Breakdown.

Travelled up to Bristol, to drop a few things at my Daughters.

On way back, steering went really heavy. No warning lights.

Pulled over, the battery light came on.

Popped the bonnet and my aux belt is off the pulleys, so no power steering or alternator.

AA have been summoned.

Will they get here, fix it and can I then drive 25 miles home, before a meeting at 2pm.

Even at this early stage, I'm guessing not :(

AA are quoting 11.35 - 11.45 arrival time. Just about when a nasty storm hits.

Joy.

Posted

AA have arrived. Idler pulley has seized and threw the belt.

Not a part they keep. He is phoning Euro to see if they stock them.

Posted

They do stock them. But not at the branch that's two minutes walk from here.

At Avonmouth, which is an hour round trip.

150 quid.

I may be here some time :(

Oh bollocks, you really don't have much luck with cars ☹️

He's back now with the parts.

Going to let him do it.

My life is too fecking stressful at the moment. I pay 22 quid a month. Haven't used them in years. They can earn there money.

Have it towed back and get a used one. Fit it yourself it’s not tremendously difficult.

They won't tow you if they can fix it.... even if the parts to fix it are extortionate.

I had to pay the AA £245 for a coilpack for a late 90s vw engine while stuck at the side of the a50, all while looking at eurocarptarts website showing them at £37. I'm a yorkshireman so you can imagine how much that hurt

I’d love to be a fly under the bonnet when they get the box back from ECP and it’s a bumbag for an Alsatian or something equally not a Mondeo Mk4 tensioner in it.

Posted

They fixed it then, enjoy the hail through the village!!

Home now.

144 quid. Amazingly ECP supplied the right parts.

And the torrential rain / hail actually stopped while he was sorting it out.

AA - 10/10 and I would probably have been charged more by local garage, so I'm not unhappy.

What's that all about then? Is it roadside cover?

I lazily renewed my cover at the end of last year with them as I ran out of time to do anything about it, and didn't realise it was roadside assistance only.

I was slightly alarmed by the national recovery for £20 letter they sent me the other day. I suppose that means they'll either fix it at the roadside at great expense or recover me to the nearest unwanted garage... Neither of which I'd like to happen. I'd like to fix it myself! Oops..

So the Disco had an advisory for a fluid leak. As mentioned in the For Sale thread, it briefly had.

Every few days, I start it up and drive it round the block to keep the battery topped up.

Last couple of times, the gearbox was a bit jerky. Today it was slipping when pulling away from standstill.

After I got it home, I noticed it was leaving a trail.

I'm not sure it will even drive to a garage, if I could find one that had spare time in the diary.

Looks like I need to top it up, to drive it even a short distance.

Think it may leak out, faster than I can fill it lol

One Life. Live It :(

Do you think this could be a result of the JLR specialist??? fiddling about underneath?

Hopefully it will set fire to itself.

Absolutely. They fitted a new transmission sump.

Need your boy to come round to confirm, but strongly suspect the specialist has not tightened it up / overtightened / knackered the gasket.

Mrs Cookie is raging. But also still very ill and really can't be arsed with the Disco.

I've been told in no uncertain terms to get rid. Dont spend a single penny more on it. Scrap the fucker.

On line scrap price - £450.

I may try and sell it spares/ repairs and maybe get 1.5k if I'm lucky - let's face it I'm not lol

Mrs Cookie has said the next car needs to be black, preferably saloon and she likes Lexus IS / MK4 Mondeo / Honda Accords. Must have banging stereo and not be pisssing any fluids out. Even mk4 mondeo hatch will be considered.

To be fair, when she off her tits on Morphine, she takes the potential 5.5k loss on the Disco, quite well :)

That's proper shit. He's away this weekend until Sunday afternoon. But that looks the driest day anyway.

I love this place.

Disco sold stc.

Seems like a fellow shitter wants to save / break / set fire 🔥 (delete as appropriate) the incontinent Disco of Doom.

I will let them reveal themselves, if they wish to do so.

I'm surprised the insurance industry believe any fire claims on these fuckers are all "acts of god" to be honest 🤣
