Cookiesouwest
So tonight, I continued the polish fest. Did the offside CRV light - before After Also redid the nearside. The sealant I applied last night, got damp overnight which kinda knackered it. So did it again - After Then I started on the Mondy. Both headlights yellowish and the offside fog light is cloudy. Offside headlight before After I'm happy with the result. No amount of polishing had an effect on the fog light. Its hazed on the inside. Doubt if it will even be an advisory on the MOT, so I can live with it. This is the nearside and what it should look like. Suspect its been changed at some point. Don't worry folks. Only one more headlight to go and that will be the end of pictures of lights. The Audi was given a run today. On Thursday, returning from the car meet, it started making a continuous squeal noise from the rear ( think it was nearside ). It resulted in 'the look' from Mrs CSW. My heart sank a bit. Took her (the Audi not Mrs CSW) out for a 20 mile run today and she behaved. The only noise being the tinkle of a droplink some where. Time to get her in for an MOT. rainagain, Low Horatio gearbox and Lacquer Peel
SiC
Stone stuck between the brake disc and brake shield? That's a common trick my Boxster does, especially if driven over gravel. Makes a right racket until it suddenly departs.

I wasn't that concerned. More concerning was 'the look' I got lol
Cookiesouwest
I have committed. Mondeo booked for MOT on Monday. Need to arrange valet before Friday, as I'm away at the weekend. Audi booked for MOT next Wednesday. Next week could either be happy and cheap or expensive.
Cookiesouwest
Even though the Mondy will be leaving, I decided to replace the crap centre caps on the alloys. Then after the new ones arrived, I found another new set in the car from previous owner lol Old crappy one New one Repeat 3 times. Cookiesouwest
Progress report. There is no progress. Mondy and Audi did not make it to garage for mot. Covid stopped play. 3rd time I've had it. First two times, I only knew I had it because of positive test. This time. Jesus. Today is first time out of bed since Sunday. Will get the tests re-booked ASAP. Cookiesouwest
The Audi had a broken rear ashtray. A one spanner, easy fix. Found a new old stock item on ebay and prayed it was a good colour match. Turns out it is rainagain

Cookiesouwest
A couple of new bits arrived in the post. The spare wheel locking nut / bolt / thingy me bob / whatever you call it, was missing from the Audi. So I ordered a replacement. Which I can't get to fit. Either I'm really stupid (possible) or its the wrong one. Will investigate when I have more time. Plus a plastic boot tray turned up. So the boot is now dog friendly. andyberg
Cookiesouwest
So the hot weather has dried out the glue on the headlining on the Audi. Now driving around with headlining on my head. Time to get the stapler out. Oh and MOT re-booked for next Weds. Mondy goes for MOT on Monday.
Cookiesouwest
Mondy was put in early for MOT, as I'm keen to shift it and 12 months ticket always helps. The headlight I will do myself, I'm getting the garage to sort the exhaust clamp and I will bung a tyre on too. Off on Hols next week, so will get it all done the following week. Cookiesouwest
So the new to me Audi has passed. A few advisories to sort but glad I banged it in for MOT a couple of months early. The cost of the cambelt change can now be justified. Low Horatio gearbox and SiC
Cookiesouwest
Due to covid / holidays / Mrs C being quite ill, not much has happened fleet wise. But I did go to local car meet on Thursday. Cookiesouwest
Lots of fun and games have happened (if a car being written off is considered fun). Documented elsewhere on the news 24 thread, so won't repeat myself here. I have just brimmed the Audi, for the first time in my ownership. So now I can get a real world MPG. Mostly local short trips and the occasional runs up to Bristol. 472.3 miles 50.19 litres / 11.05 gallons. This gives 42.74 mpg At todays fuel price, 20p per mile. Considering its had a lot of short journeys, I don't think that's too bad. In two weeks its taking us to Hexham in Northumberland. Will find out what its like on a long trip. Hoping to get 50mpg plus. And no, I've not had time to get the cambelt done yet, so its a bit of a risk. I just won't tell Mrs CSW andyberg and SiC

Cookiesouwest
Please don't kick me off AS. Went to a few garages. To check that the driver seats are suitable for Mrs CSW's crumbling spine. Dacia Duster and Dacia Sandero Stepway were a big no. Her favourite of the day was this Almost equal was this She really liked this, but I wouldn't let her get in it. Her favorite looking car was this, but locked and sales team were busy. So no idea if the seats are ok. Plus its a Jeep. Im assuming its as bad as a JLR product for reliability. No way I can afford any of these unless I do a PCP deal over 4 yrs. The Tucson was £3k deposit, about 230 pm for 4 yrs, 6k per year mileage and £7-8k final payment. The salesman did a rough quote for me. This would be a stretch. Doable, but a stretch. Weirdly I was giving it consideration, till Mrs CSW dragged me away. She hates debt of any kind. On the way to the pub for lunch, she was asking a suspicious number of questions about how PCP works. I think that she was very impressed with the Tucson. Pub lunch was at a great pub, next to a river Overlooked by a ruined castle With ducks Not a bad day. I have to rip bits off the CRV tonight, before doing photos for the Insurance company. rainagain
