Started fucking about with the roof. Catch for the roof cover was a bit dodgy, sorted that but the roof still doesn’t do anything. Pump runs but nothing happens.

Off with the pump. Impeller has a crack in it but it isn’t actually broken. Not sure whether it is the problem or not. A new impeller is £35 which is pretty salty for a tiny bit of plastic - tempted to Araldite it and see what happens!!

I bought one of those when it was 4 years old and the kids were little 53 plate maybe, only had it one summer as all they did was moan about no room in it , it was black and I bought it in the dark , when I saw it next day it was like it had been parked in a 2 door only car park with spaces a foot wider than the cars, I've never seen so many dents in the side of a car

I climbed in the back seat once I'd taken possession of it, as I have an odd fetish for travelling in the back of 3 door cars, and especially 2+2s. I could actually sit back there fine (I'm 5'11) however it failed the 'sitting behind yourself' test as to fit my legs in I had to have the driver's seat further forward than I would want it while driving. I reckon a child in a child seat would fit fine however they might well then have a great opportunity to irritate the driver by repeatedly booting the back of the seat.

Edit: it seems to me that you have little to lose by aralditing the impeller. I just fixed my pond pump with araldite, though it had a slightly different problem with the impeller- the fins were fine, but the drive tang in the middle where it was turned by the motor was worn down. I araldited a bit of wooden toothpick in to replace it and it's running fine 24 hours later.

In an interruption to the scheduled programming, the Megane has been sent to sulk in my overflow garage for a bit.  I failed to fix the roof and I think I'm going to need to order a new pump to sort it - the suspension will need bits too, and getting a hold of anything right now is going to be pretty difficult!

I've therefore taken the decision to substitute the Megane with the ex @gadgetgricey Rover 216 Cabriolet that has been sulking in said overflow for far too long.  I KNOW what's wrong with this one, OMGHGF obviously.

Oh, and it's considerably more mouldy inside than it was when I parked it up - like a complete idiot I left the NSF window down..... doh!

This is a tidy thing though, and I’m looking forward to getting it working 100%. It is losing water at a decent rate. @gadgetgricey K-Sealed it but it still carries on. Doesn’t seem to overheat mind if you keep it topped up!

I did a sniff test on it before I brought it home and it was showing the presence of combustion gases in the coolant.
