jonny69
That is a veritable crock of absolute shit you’ve had there! There is literally nothing good in that list. Impressive! Shame you haven’t got any pics really. Could you not bore* us by going through each one to see if they still exist and/or are MOTd or insured? jonny69
I was being serious! You must have some pics knocking about in a drawer. The more denim and embarrassing barnets the better

I read his post as quite funny. The list of cars is quite eclectic and so me very o ordinary cars in there too. Very much if I were to list every car me and the wife ever owned. I would probably laugh at myself and call my decision making very tedious. But that's just old fashioned British self depreciation. I think jonny69 was probably trying to help.you to see the funny side of life. Anyway. How do you remember registration numbers ?? I can just about remember the reg numbers of the 3 cars we currently own.

Avensis Verso
It is a bit of a silly post as people have said i have driven some real shit over the years, but then thats the point here isnt it autoshite. As to remembering the redg numbers i dont really know, strange thing is i know quite a few of my dads cars he had when i grew up. Somebody asked about the cars now, most are listed on dvla still but have no mot history and last taxed years ago, i doubt any survive. I just wanted to add a thankyou to all of you for the welcome here, its a fun forum to be on and some great like minded people to talk too. thatsmacar
You had an FSO and lived to tell the tail? I wouldn't be seen in one of those. I would be seen in a Lada though, I liked Lada. ?
Cord Fourteener
I'm inspired to re-live the shite I drove and regret not keeping... Here goes, from memory K reg slate-grey Rover 214i (with a grill!) Parents car when I passed my test, possibly my favourite attainable car in the world at the time - I wrote it off six months after passing my test in a single car crash on a country lane. Seat Malaga, J reg, black. Wish now I had kept it. I used this car to change gear without using clutch. It survived me, somehow. Vauxhall Belmont, can't remember year but the Mk2 Astra shape. In orange, apparently a factory colour. Shat cooland on the road outside our house so my dad scrapped it, shame coz I loved it! And it was fixable. VW Polo, F reg. 'Twist' trim, indigo purple with standard body-coloured hub caps. My trusty steed for years, even after head gasket failure and bending the chassis through impact with the kerb in ice. Another Rover 214i 3-door in white, J reg. That got written off when I was drunk, I gave a friend the keys, thinking I was being sensible. Didn't realise he was also drunk and hadn't actually learned to drive and pass a test. He wrote it off for me. Oops, highly regrettable. Should have walked home! At some point there was also my parents 216i automatic, in Burgundy on a G I think? Also a lovely car. My first experience with Auto, was very nice. Ford Escort Mk 5.5, M '95, 1.6i Zetec, Brit Racing Green-ish. Was competent and comfortable. Narrowly avoided accidental suicide and mass murder regularly in this. Fortunately I got banned for speeding in this car (doing 95mph up a motorway incline - this car regularly did an indicated 120mph with passengers aboard), even after getting my licence back I took a hiatus from driving for about 15 years in total, I think to stop being a tragedy waiting to happen. Peugeot 206 1.9 diesel n/a V reg, silver, wife's car when I met her. VW Polo 1.4TDi Bluemotion, in Ice Silver. '58 reg. Still going stong today (won't die) 120,000 miles on clock and counting. Mitsubishi Carisma facelift, '53 reg. 1.9tdi, Dark Grey. Lovely lovely car, strong, comfortable and very well designed inside. Shame about random limp mode attack. Saab 9-3 OG 2.0 turbo, X reg '00, Black. Lovely car, very fast. Back in the day I would have certainly hurt myself in this. Porsche 924, '82 Y reg. Runs, has niggles surface related to age, but otherwise a good car, needs interior repairs and tidying, new coat of paint etc, but is a good rough runner. '04 BMW E46 3 series 325i Touring (that's Bavarian for Estate, apparently). Silver, grandad spec trim. Adorable, serves as work van, family car, sports saloon, maternity unit (one time only though)
Avensis Verso
Yep i had an FSO and they are not as bad as they are made out to be, sure they where basic but it was actually fun to drive, when the brakes didnt stick on, it had disc brakes all round but the shitiest calipers ive ever come across, back then it cost me £50 for one replacement caliper. They where based on the fiat 125 minus the overhead cam engine, used a earlier overhead valve fiat engine reworked by FSO, couldnt adjust the tappets properly always sounded like a bucket of spanners. loved the car though, id have another without question
