A day out in Peterborough looking at Corvette Powered Fake Snakes and an XKSS replica..

Sunday was grotty.   I woke up early as my cat is rather poorly at the moment and I was expecting a call from the vet with the details, unfortunately the poor sod's liver isn't doing very well and we might need to put him to sleep, he's only 5 and a half and we've had this little fella since he was born, his mum and dad are two of our other cats, and his sister lives with us too.  He's very much a part of the family :(.

A friend messaged me asking if I was planning on coming to the AK Sportscar Open day, they were worried that no one was going to turn up, due to the ran, but that seemed to clear up by about 11am, so rather than stew in my own juices, I decided it's probably best I do something with the day, get some free food in me and head over.

For those who don't know, AK Sportscars are a Peterborough based outfit, who make AC Cobra Replica's on their own Chassis, with a GRP shell that they make themselves too.  They supply both their own pre-built cars, going through the hard work of the BIVA for you, or they allow people to make their own kits, using a donor vehicle and they assist with getting it all done and registered.

I'm a massive Cobra Fanboi and I'm never going to own a real one;  even if I could did, I'd have to keep it all standard, and to be honest as much as I like all that stuff, I'd want to use it regularly, so the kits, to me at least make sense.

The Cobra market is a bit of a difficult one,  they offer the cars with any smallblock V8, 1ufze Lexus's have been used, Rover, Ford, SBC, and of course the LS Engine, which is probably the most sensible choice, as it gives you a load of power, reasonable fuel use for a performance car, and there's a good parts support line for them.

Anyway, enough of that..

Really nice of them to have an open day like that. Good on them.  They look very nicely put together.

Yeah they do a few a year, the summer ones are meant to be really good.

I think they're quite well done, yeah.  I mean there's stuff I'd do a different way if I was making the cars, but I'm not, they are.
