Rydz
Hi Guys A few weeks ago I started nursing the idea of driving from the UK to Portugal, this would entail buying a car in the UK and driving it down to Portugal and probably selling it for parts or simply scrapping it on arrival. This seems to be a slightly harder issue than doing this backwards, from Portugal to the UK due to the length of time it takes to get the V5 and having to have a UK mailing address for it to be sent to. If some of that can be solved by having some kind souls in the UK who want to help, it becomes quite doable, but if not going backwards for my becomes quite a bit easier. Though I am in Canada, being that I was born in Portugal has given me easy access to an ID card, as well as a passport ect, When you purchase a car in Portugal you have the same sort of issue that you have to wait for the registration papers to arrive in the mail, though it is usually quite quick. Also I can buy a car in advance of the trip, and keep it at my parents place over there until such time as I am ready to go, (I will have to MOT prior to leaving perhaps, but that is not a huge deal if you buy the right car,and make sure its in good nick) So here is my question to you, is there anything in Portugal (shitey cars only) that you would be looking for that may be of interest to you? I need something I can purchase cheap (because that is half the fun), has reasonable expectations of completing the trip ( or there is no purpose to this ),and is desirable enough to you lot (I dont need to make any money on this, but if I can make someone happy and offset some of the cost of the car, that might cool) vs simply scrapping it. Some of the shite cars I have seen over there may suffer cosmetic challenges or one sort or another, but rust can be avoided for the most part. Any sort of comment, suggestion, request is good. By the way, budget for the vehicle purchase would be under 500 Euro or so,this leaves me enough room to make sure I can spend some $$ on getting the car up to scratch with a service, brakes, tires ect as required , and get it MOT'd prior to the trip if required. Asimo
350Euros https://www.custojusto.pt/porto/ligeiros-passageiros/nissan-sunny-1-3-slx-26898430 But realistically, if you have to sell it back here in GB then a VW like this TD Golf might be a better bet. 500 Euros https://www.custojusto.pt/viseu/ligeiros-passageiros/vw-golf-1-6-td-29088076
skattrd
Portugal is the home of Umm, but I'd be looking for a 2 door Range Rover classic as they used to be much cheaper and plentiful there than UK, they got 2dr until the 90s. Edit: sorry, didn't see the under 500 euro, sadly RRC won't be anywhere near that cheap.
strangeangel
Don't suppose a Portguese Moke falls into this price bracket?

Skut
An Emelba Chato would almost certainly find an appreciative audience with the Panda crowd. I can't believe they'd be worth that much as they're a shite van/minibus to an extreme. jumpingjehovahs, Mrs6C and egg

Dave_Q
Theres a fair bit of top shelf rammel on custojusto for under 500, no idea how to tell whether it's MOT'd or equivalent. Still, you would get something back for the car, whereas doing it the other way you would almost certainly have to scrap the UK car in Portugal.
